RCSJ Gloucester CC Scout Day

Dan Valerio
Assistant Scouting Director

On a beautiful Friday morning of Sept.15th 2023. Scouts arrived in Sewell NJ, to check out the RCSJ Gloucester CC Roadrunners take the field. With hopes of finding talent in which the roadrunners never have a shortage of. With the team just being together for a week and knocking some rust off, they had a great showing.

Let's dive into what I saw:

On the Mound:

SO. LHP Thomas Goldberg (Sweesboro,NJ)

+ The 5'10-190lb southpaw has a very compact delivery with tons of deception. It's a H3/4 slot in which doesn't with pitch type. FB was 86-87 (88) painted at the knees. CB was 74-76 10/4 action, back door hammer. Goldberg has a very fluid operation.

SO. RHP Lucas Hampel (Sweesboro, NJ)

+ The 5'11/185lb right hander uses all of his weight to get down the mound. Explosive and whippy. Efficient in all four quadrants. FB/CH mix. FB was 85-87 (88) lots of heavy ASR. CH is the go-to K pitch, fade at 73-75mph.

SO. RHP Tim Hartman (Sweesboro, NJ)

+ The 6'0/175lb right hander has a super deceptive and aggressive delivery. Lots of moxie and tempo. Really intriguing versatility on the mound. Coming of an impressive freshman campaign in which he was 11-0 with 61 K's helping the Roadrunners win a World Series. His fastball has some giddy up to it at 88 (89) ASR. CB was 72-74 12/6 heavy late break. CH was 79-80.

FR. RHP Anthony Magliozzi (Union, NJ)

+ The 6'4/225lb right hander is durable and smooth. Clean and efficient, gets down the mound with ease. Hardest thrower of the event.  Faced three and K'd three. The FB was 90-91 with heavy run and cut. CB was 72-75 with 12/6 break. High upside frame and arm talent.

FR. RHP Doug King (Paulsboro, NJ)

+ The 6'0/175lb right hander very athletic frame. Makes it look easy painting in the four quadrants. Most impressive spin of the event. Landed it with easy and in any count at 75-77 (78) sharp 11/5 break. The FB was an easy 88-89. A lot of command present.

2 Commits:

SO. INF Caden Dulin (Williamstown, NJ) recently just committed to Pitt University in the ACC.

FR. OF Gavin Degnan (Toms River, NJ) will further his career at prestigious Penn University. Degnan is coming off a scorching hot senior campaign. In which he hit over .500 with 8 home runs while successfully stealing 31 bases.

Other Standouts:

SO. OF Adam Gates (Sweedsboro,NJ)

SO. SS Ernesto Polanco (West NY,NJ)
