Recapping the Fall Prospect Program at Ohio Wesleyan University





The final location for Ohio’s Fall Prospect Program was held at Ohio Wesleyan University. Three different matchups took place, as Team 4 vs. Team 6, Team 1 vs. Team 3, and Team 2 vs. Team 5 squared off.  Over the past 5 weekends, we have seen many players improve significantly, moving themselves up Ohio's prospect rankings.  To check out these rankings and inside recruiting information subscribe to PBRPlus.

Below are top performers, and pitcher velocities for each team:



Top Performers Team 4:

Top right handed hitting catcher Matthew Matthaes rounded out an impressive Fall Prospect Program Sunday.  The Olentangy Liberty prospect went 2 for 3, and just missed hitting a home run to left field.  Behind the plate, Matthaes recorded pop times of 2.13-2.20.

Newcomer Sam Hardin put together an impressive day at the dish.  The right-handed hitter featured a short compact stroke, and went 2 for 4 Sunday.

St Edward product Jaret Edwards went 2 for 4 at the plate, and showed good ability to drive the ball backside.

Blake Sells, Evan Skinner, and Spencer Bycynski all went 1 for 3 to finish out their Fall Program performance.

Top Performers Team 6:

Chase Beam launched a couple balls Sunday as he went 1 for 3 on the day.  The first baseman tripled deep to left field, and also smashed a ball to deep center that hung up just a little too long.

Left-handed hitter Scott Nadler put together a 1 for 3 day at the plate.  Nadler features a smooth left-handed stroke that can drive the ball to all fields. 

Sam Grodhaus went 1 for 4 on the day but squared the ball up multiple times.  He recorded a single when he lined the ball to center, and then was robbed of a hit when he lined a ball to right.

Catcher Jordan Seich showed some good pop in batting practice.  Behind the plate, Seich registered 2.13-2.14 pop times.

Top Performers Team 1:

John Kunakowsky swung a very strong bat Sunday as he went 2 for 4.  His two hits came from a line drive single to left, and a double to center.

After 5 weeks of the Fall Prospect Program, Daniel Nyquist was a leader in most multi-hit games.  The outfielder finished the fall program going 2-4 with two singles.

Braun Miller put together another impressive day on the hill.  The southpaw sat 82-85 hitting 84, and 85mph multiple times.  The future for the Sandusky Perkins product is definitely bright.

Alex Harter, David Savron, and David Chrostowski all put together 1 for 3 days to finish out Fall Program performance.

Top Performers Team 3:

Michael Barnabei had one of the best batting practices Sunday, and that performance transferred into the game.  Barnabei went 1 for 3, but made solid contact in multiple at bats.

Outfielder Eddy Hulsman featured a strong swing that projects a high contact rate.  The 2015 grad went 1 for 3 with a single to left field.

Sam Ankrom had one of his best weekends at Ohio Wesleyan.  The southpaw sat 81-83 with a 70-71 slider featuring sharp movement.

Shortstop, Anthony Cerreto showed power to the opposite field when he drove a double in the right field gap.  Cerreto went 1 for 3.

Top Performers Team 2:

Second baseman Eric Callahan had an impressive day offensively and defensively.  The right-handed hitter went 1 for 3 with single to right field.  Callahan also had the best defensive play on the day when he robbed a hit diving to his left making a spectacular play.

Dublin Coffman product Alex Simpson led Team 2 in hitting going 2 for 3 Sunday.  Both hits were singles smoked into centerfield. 

Southpaw Blaine Warhula had a nice day on the hill.  Warhula sat 78-79 with a 63-65 breaking ball featuring sharp movement. 

Michael Fenner, Spencer Yankle, Robert Engle, and Deric Cain went 1 for 3 in Sundays game.

Top Performers Team 5:

Gahanna Lincoln product Tim Eidens had a nice day at the plate going 2 for 3.  The right-handed hitter featured good balance with some pull power.

Catcher Michael Pagano had an impressive day Sunday.  The left-handed hitter went 2 for 3, both hits being singles.  Pagano registered pop times of 2.06 and 2.07.

The left-handed stick of Tyler Neal had another good day doubling to left field.  Neal has proven that he can hit to all fields with some pop.

2016 right-handed pitcher Hunter Carson was one of the top pitchers in the Fall Program.  Carson sat 80-84 with a 65-68mph curveball that shows 12/6 tilt.  Only being a sophomore makes Carson a very intriguing prospect.
