A beautiful Friday night pitted archrivals against each other, yet again, for the Region 6C Championship as West Springfield and Lake Braddock met in Burke. Both teams went with righties to start the game, Braddock going with senior JB Manarchuck (Mount St. Mary's) and West Springfield going with junior Henry Pastel

The Spartans jumped all over the Bruins, scoring 3 in the first and opening up a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third. Lake Braddock wasn't going to go away easily and the Bruins immediately cut the deficit to 5-4 with a Jack McCarthy 3-run home run. The Bruins would tie the game in the fifth on a sacrifice fly.

The game remained tied into the seventh, when Matthew James delivered a walk-off single for the Bruins, giving them their third straight Region 6C Championship. Evan Schick was 3-4 and Ken McKeever was 2-4. For the Spartans, Nolan Batson and Evan May each had multi-hit games.

Both teams advance to the State Tournament, with Lake Braddock hosting South Lakes on Tuesday and West Springfield traveling to Region D champion Herndon.
