May 27 Regional Tournament Scores and Highlights

Scores and highlights from all the Regional Tournament action across the state yesterday.

1st Region

Murray 13  Fulton City 1 (5 innings)
Dustin Bevil went 2-2 with 2 RBI, and John Lollar added 3 RBI in the Murray rout. 

Lone Oak 3  Calloway County 2
Lone Oak survived a first round scare and escaped with the one-run victory.  Drew Schmitt, Sam Goode, and Seth English each had 2 hits.  Goode pitched out of several jams and made big pitches when needed to pick up the complete game win.

Paducah Tilghman 7  St. Mary 3

Ballard Memorial 16  Hickman County 3

2nd Region

Caldwell County 18  Crittenden County 7 (6 innings)
Eli Pepper went 3-5 with a home run and 4 RBI, and Chandler Blackburn went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI to lead Caldwell County to the rout. 

Henderson County 10  Hopkinsville 1
Sam Higgs went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Kaleb Duckworth went 3-4 with a double, RBI, and 3 runs scored, and Justin Cessna went 2-2 with a triple, 2 RBI, and 3 runs in the rout.  Colton Jomes picked up the win, working 6 innings allowing 2 hits while striking out 7.

Trigg County 7  Madisonville North Hopkins 6

Daviess County 4  Edmonson County 0

Meade County 1  Muhlenberg County 0

4th Region

Logan County 4  Metcalfe County 2
Gage Hales went 3-4 wi 2 RBI, and Dustin Cartas added a double and drove in a run in the Logan Co win.  Blake Gettings gave up 2 earned runs in scattering 5 hits for the complete game win.

Greenwood 9  Allen County-Scottsville 0
Tanner Kirby fired a complete game 2-hitter with 8 K’s.  Trevor Brewer went 3-4 with a HR and 3 RBI, and Dexter Cline went 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI to lead the offensive attack. 

Glasgow 2  South Warren 1

Russell County 2  Franklin-Simpson 0

5th Region

Central Hardin 11  Larue County 1

Bethlehem 6  Taylor Co 4
Jake Yates and John Riney each had 2 hits, and Blake Brangers and Thomas Osborne each drove in 2 runs as Bethlehem won the first regional tournament game in school history.  Jimi Keating struck out 6 in going the distance in the complete game effort.

Nelson County 10  Campbellsville 0
Alex Briney went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Hunter Smith doubled home 3 runs, and Caleb Cecil went 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Dylan Beasley fired a complete game 2-hit shutout.

North Hardin 11  Green County 7

6th Region

Jeffersontown 1  North Bullitt 0

Butler 11  Fairdale 10 (8 innings)
In a wild contest, Butler survived a 5-run 7th inning by Fairdale to win the one-run game.  After Fairdale rallied for 5 runs in the 7th to take a 10-9 lead, Butler came back with a run to send it to extra innings and then won it in the 8th.  Jerred Hawkins had 2 hits and 4 RBI, and Kyle Lewis added 2 hits in the win.  Bradley Ferriell threw the final 1 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

PRP 15  Bullitt Central 0 (5 innings)
Jacob Clair stroked 2 doubles and drove in 3 runs, Alex Miller went 2-2 with a triple and 3 runs scored, and Austin Beckman added 2 hits in the rout.  Greg Laughlin worked 2 scoreless innings in recording the win.

Bullitt East 6  DeSales 0
Hunter Wood went 2-2 with a triple and 2 RBI, and Austin Money added 2 hits.  Jonathan Recktenwald worked 5 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

7th Region

Trinity 5  Eastern 1

St. Xavier 10  Central 0

Male 8  Atherton 1
Spencer Jackson went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Justen Linares added 3 hits, and Heath Brownley went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead Male.  Sophomore TJ Satterly, in his first varsity appearance, came in for the injured Brandon Gatz who was hit by a pitch, and shut down the Atherton offense

DuPont Manual 11  CAL 10
Trailing 9-1 in the 3rd inning, Manual began a stunning comeback that resulted in the win.  Manual scored 5 runs in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, and took the lead for good with 2 in the 5th.  Sam Harper went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Sam went 3-4 with a double and RBI to lead the comeback.

8th Region

Simon Kenton 10  Gallatin County 4

Collins 7  South Oldham 6
Nate Clifton went 3-4 with 2 RBI, and Zac Wiley 2-2 with 3 RBI as Collins held off a late charge by South Oldham.  Dan Sanders struck out 6 over 5 innings of work to pick up the win.

Spencer County 11  Owen County 4

North Oldham 14  Walton Verona 2

9th Region

Dixie Heights 2  Newport Central Catholic 1
Sophomore Ethan Harrison stroked a RBI single to left field in the bottom of the 7th as Dixie Heights won in walk-off fashion.

Beechwood 8  Boone County 3
Trevor Booth had a big 3-run double as Beechwood pulled away late to secure the win.  Ethan Stringer added 2 hits in the win.

Ryle 7  Covington Catholic 2
Mason Forbes was a home run shy of the cycle, and Justin Hoard shut down the Ryle offense to lead Ryle to the win.

St. Henry 3  Highlands 2 (8 innings)
Mitch Kuebbing went the distance in the extra-inning game as St. Henry moved on in the 9th region.

10th Region

Harrison County 11  Bracken County 1

Scott 8  Montgomery County 1
Pete Ohmer fired a complete game 1-hitter, and Set Robinson stroked 3 hits, Josh Castleman went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI, and Reed Spata added 2 hits and scored 2 runs. 

Bourbon County 7  Mason County 1
Nick Wheeler went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Devin Bellville and Ben Schanding added 2 hits each, and Dalton Pope doubled home 2 runs in the win.  Wheeler scattered 4 hits and struck out 7 in the complete game effort.

Campbell County 3  Nicholas County 2

11th Region

Madison Southern 4  Bryan Central 1

Tates Creek 12  Franklin County 3
Devin Hairston went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Luke Rouse went 2-3, Jordan Fucci went 2-4 with triple, and Blake Rose drove in 3 runs.  Tanner Hart went the distance for the complete game win.

Woodford County 2  Lafayette 1
Travis Bingham had a big run-scoring single, and Clinton Hollon outdueled Josh Dunn to lead Woodford County.

Scott County 11  Madison Central 3
Scott County jumped on Madison Central early and then cruised to the win.  Tanner Blankenship went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI, Chase Martin added 2 hits, and Matt Gregory drove in 2 runs,  Gregory also fired a complete game, striking out 6 along the way.

12th Region

Mercer County 7  Boyle County 4
Curry Brown went 3-3 with a home run and 3 RBI, Chris Goodman went 4-4, and Jon Banks went 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Banks worked 5 innings to pick up the win.

Wayne County 19 Somerset 8

West Jessamine 7  Danville 6
Jake Purkins homered and drove in 4 runs, and Tyler Adams and Christian Beckley each added 2 hits as West Jessamine jumped out to an early lead and held on for the win.  Dakota Greer allowed 4 ER in 5 innings and struck out 7 in picking up the win.

Southwestern 1  Pulaski County 0

13th Region

Harlan County 5  Clay County 1
Tyler Boggs went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Connor Leisge drove in 2 runs to lead Harlan Co to the win.  Leisge allowed one earned run over 5 innings and struck out 5 to pick up the win.

South Laurel 15  Pineville 1
Daniel Neal went 4-4 with a grand slam HR and 5 RBI to lead South Laurel.

North Laurel 10  Corbin 0 (5 innings)
Zach Hurley threw 4 scoreless innings, and Marcus Carson doubled, homered in the North Laurel rout.

Middlesboro 3  Knox Central 1
Jake Brock went 3-4, and John Millett went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead Middlesboro to the win.  Lucas Crawford and Brian Hale combined to allow just 4 hits and racked up 11 strikeouts.

14th Region
