SC Dream Team Preview

Scouting Director - PBR South Carolina

PBR South Carolina Dream Team Lineup

1. Jalen Vazquez - SS - (2020,Fort Dorchester) Commitment: South Carolina
- Advanced LHH that can really handle the bat and provide the SC Dream Team a consistent leadoff hitter that can get on base at a high clip. Elite defender will lock down the SS position with plus range and a strong arm.

2. Reece Holbrook - LF - (2021, Hammond) Commitment: North Carolina
- Another LH hitter at the top of the South Carolina Dream Team lineup. Elite bat to ball skills and zone recognition coupled with a mix of speed and power help make for a tough 2 hole hitter and give the coaching staff plenty of options to pressure the defense. Solid outfielder with good instincts and plus range.

3. Caden Grice - 1B - (2020, Riverside) Commitment: Clemson
- Grice starts a "murderers row" of big time bats through the middle of the South Carolina Dream Team lineup. Arguably some of the top raw power in the 2020 class and a pro level hit tool, he will be licking his chops with the likes of Vazquez and Holbrook setting the table for him. Will defend at 1B and could give the SC boys a low 90's LHP out of the bullpen in the late innings.

4. Alex Urban - CF - (2020, River Bluff) Commitment: Clemson
- Urban is the Lou Gehrig to Grice's Babe Ruth for the South Carolina Dream Team. His raw power will rival anyone in the 2020 class and he will hit high level pitching. An underrated defender in CF he will easily man the position and take plenty of hits away from opposing hitters.

5. Tucker Toman - 3B - (2022, Hammond) Commitment: LSU
-  Toman finds himself in the 5 hole in our lineup. The switch hitter showed why he is a sure fire SEC bat at the 2019 PBR Future Games. He consistently finds barrels from both sides of the plate with lightening quick hands and big time power. He will lock down the hot corner with above average glove skills and a strong arm.

6. David Lewis - DH - (2021, Blue Ridge) Commitment: Clemson
- One of the best pure hitters in the 2021 class for SC. Lewis has a rare mix of contact and power that have started to gain him national attention of late. An advanced approach, physical build, and elite bat to ball skills make him a deadly 6 hole hitter. He could easily defend at 3rd if needed.

7. T.J. White - RF - (2021, Dorman) Commitment: Indiana
- The switch hitter has one of the best pro bodies in the state and it is easy to dream about the projection. He also produces some serious pop from both sides of the plate and has been on a meteoric rise over the summer and fall. He has sneaky range and good instincts in RF.

8. Tomas Frick - C - (2020, JL Mann) Commitment: North Carolina
- Frick is the best C in South Carolina's 2020 class. He has a balanced approach at the plate and consistently finds the barrel. He is also capable of finding a gap or driving a ball out on occasion. He is an elite defender with excellent receiving skills, block and recover ability, and catch and throw skills. He will excel with the elite arms that SC will run out and neutralize even the best running threat.

9. David Mershon - 2B - (2022, Eastside) Commitment: Mississippi State
- Mershon was the natural choice to play up the middle with Vazquez. The slick fielding INF is a natural SS but slides over to 2B for our Dream Team. He is athletic, rangy, and has plenty of arm strength to make any potential throws. The scrappy hitter will put together solid ABs and provide a tough out at the bottom of the lineup. The switch hitter can use the whole field and won't chase pitches out of the zone.

SP: Magdiel Cotto - LHP - (2020, Nation Ford) Commitment: South Carolina
- Without a doubt the biggest winner at the 2020 PBR Super 60 Pro Showcase. Ran the FB up to 95 with feel for 3 pitches. Turned in a laser sharp effort with big league stuff. Loose arm action, pitchability, and mound presence make him an easy choice to get the ball in a big spot for the SC Dream Team.

RP: Mikey Tepper - RHP - (2020, Fort Mill) Commitment: Mississippi State
- The power RHP is a perfect fit for the relievers role for the South Carolina Dream Team. The FB has been up to 95 working in the low 90's consistently and the power breaking ball is one of the best offspeed pitches in the class. The CB has serious late bite and hard downer action. A true swing and miss pitch that will play in the SEC. Will also show a CH as a 3rd pitch. Best of luck to opposing hitters getting Tepper out of the pen.
