Eddie Tisdale
Scouting Director - South Carolina

On Sunday October 7th PBR South Carolina took the field on the beautiful campus of Erksine College to evaluate and showcase some of the top uncommitted 2019 players from across the state. The event saw 19 players showcase their 60 times, exit velocities, home to first times, on field BP, defensive workouts, and 7 innings of live gameplay.

Pitcher Spotlights

ALAN WHITESIDES (RHP, York Comprehensive, 2019)

Physically proportional 6 foot 1 frame with room for future physical development. Worked from the stretch to a balance point just above the belt, landed slightly closed with rotational delivery. High ¾ arm slot with confident location to the arm side (FB 78-80). CB thrown with advanced feel 64-65, side to side action at the plate with shallow depth.

NICK BASS (RHP, May River, 2019)

6 foot 5 RHP with extreme leg length, arm length, and hand size. Reached a balance point slightly above the belt and delivered downhill FB’s from an OTT arm slot. FB range of 78-81 T82. Disconnect early on lead to erratic control, settled into a quality delivery as the outing continued and the mechanics synced. Curveball 68-70 mph landed for strikes later in the outing.

ROBERT DELLINGER (LHP, York Comprehensive, 2019)

5 foot 10, 190 lb LHP with long arms for his frame. Worked from a quick wind up and a balance point above the belt landed slightly open. High ¾ arm slot produced 72-74 mph FB’s that topped at 75. FB showed flashes of ASR at times. CB thrown at 64 with 2/8 shape landed for strikes. CH thrown at 67 with varying arm speed.

SABIN TEAGUE (LHP, Westminster Catawba, 2019)

Lengthy LHP at 6 foot 3 with high upside. Long limbs made it difficult to replicate release point early on. FB settled in at 82 locating to the arm side. Balance point just above the belt with a closed shoulder alignment. Lands open and works downhill with a high ¾ arm slot. Utilized a SL with an early side to side action at 68-70. CH present as a third pitch at 71.

OF Spotlights

MAX NECKLEN (OF, York Comprehensive, 2019)

Compact athlete with strong lower half into the torso and shoulders. 7.13 60 yd time and 84 mph exit velo. Tracked balls well from the CF position with good angles and efficient routes to fly balls. OTT release produced carry and showed advanced accuracy putting throws on the target. Stance slightly wider than shoulder width with a knee to knee load, and simple low line drive bat path.

SAM GOUDE (OF/RHP, Waccamaw, 2019)

6 foot 2, 155 lb slender OF/RHP. Put down an event best 6.78 time in the 60. Starts from a slightly open stance shoulder width apart with the hands above the shoulder. Loads down and back with a controlled stride back to parallel. Natural loft through the zone produced gap to gap line drives. Worked from the stretch position with hands set at the belt, shortened leg left and extended ¾ arm slot. FB with carry through the zone at 83 mph. SL with matching arm speed at 69.

HOBY SPROUSE (OF, Byrnes, 2019)

6 foot frame with athleticism present. Tied for the event best with a 6.78 60 time and also recorded a 4.37 time from home to first. LH outfielder with a quick release and accurate throws from the OF (OF velo 75). Bat set on his shoulder early in his stance loads the back elbow up and turns the barrel in time with a knee to knee load. Showed good barrell awareness on multiple offerings hitting balls on the barrell in several of his ABs.
