Scouting Notes: Prospect vs. Elk Grove

Elk Grove – The Grenadiers took an MSL league game against the Prospect Knights 7-3 on Tuesday in Elk Grove, knocking out Prospect ace Jack Landwehr, in 3 innings.  Oakton bound RHP, Dan Guido, looked sharp for the Grenadiers, going 6 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, 1 BB, 1 HBP, and 12 Ks. Guido was able to command the strike zone, throwing three pitches for strikes and keeping the hitters off balance by mixing up pitches well. 

The Grenadier offense was led by DePauw-bound Peter Kinsella who went 3 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI.  Junior OF Luc Dimaso also chipped in going 2 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI.

Scouting Notes

  • Grenadier RHP, Dan Guido, was 82-85 mph in the first inning but his velocity dropped after that, finishing the game in the 78-81 mph range and occasionally running it up to 83.
  • Prospect RHP, Jack Landwehr, was 86-88 for his three innings, the first inning he was sitting 88-90 and ran it up to 91 a couple times.  He got hit though as his off-speed pitches were off and he left a lot of pitches up in the zone.
  • Grenadier SS, Patrick O’Malley continues to impress defensively and showed well at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double and run scored.
  • Knight junior OF, A.J. Compton, went 2 for 3 on the day with a double and two runs scored.  He showed well in pregame as well exhibiting a strong, accurate arm.
  • Knight junior C, Joe Tuczak, is a defensively sound catcher who a runner out and showed a best pop time of 2.01.
