4A Sectionals

Sectional 1

No. 2 Lake Central 16 Gary West Side 0 – Ethan Darter threw a five inning perfect game striking out nine of the 15 batters he faced. Ryan Ruthrauff went 3-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and two runs.

Sectional 2

No. 8 Andrean 14 No. 23 Portage 4 – Kevin McCune got the win throwing six innings allowing three runs on six hits, striking out six. Brad LeVeque went 3-5 with a double, two RBI, and two runs, Eric Mularski went 3-4 with three runs, Justin Ruthrauff was 2-3 with two RBI and a run, Clay Thompson and Noah Davis each went 2-3 with a RBI and a run, and Matt Lelito went 2-4 with two RBI and run. 

Crown Point 15 Merrillville 0 – Mark Mazure (one inning), Dillion Farinelli (three innings, four strikeouts), and Ryan Bold (one inning, one strikeout) combined for a no hitter in the win. Justin Akers went 3-3 with a double, RBI, and three runs, Mazure was 3-3 with a double, homerun, and two RBI, Brandon Haczynski was 2-3 with two doubles, a RBI, and three runs, and Luke Adams was 2-3 with a triple, three RBI, and two runs.

No. 25 LaPorte 12 SB Adams 1 – Brogan Briggs hit a grand slam, Andy Samuelson homered and drove in two, Jordan Fadke was 2-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run, and Will Malekovic went 1-2 with a double and two RBI. Northridge 7 Elkhart Central 3 

No. 3 Penn 10 Warsaw 0 – Skylar Szynski struck out seven in five shutout innings allowing three hits.

Fishers 2 North Central 0 – Cameron Boyd got the win throwing 5.2 shutout innings allowing two hits, striking out six. Luke Duermit went 1-1 with a RBI, Caleb Brenczewski tripled and scored, and Andy Bennett had a RBI. 

Westfield 4 No. 1 Hamilton Southeastern 1 – Ryan Pepiot threw a complete game allowing one run on two hits, striking out six. Logan Schneider was 3-3 with a double, RBI, and a run, Matthew Meyer was 3-3 with a RBI and a run, Jackson Garrett doubled and drove in a run, and Harrison Freed was 1-3 with a run.

Ben Davis 2 Pike 1 – Burton got the win throwing five innings allowing one run on three hits, striking out eight. Alexander was 2-3 with a double and a RBI, Kiser was 2-3 with a double, and Zyon Avery was 1-3 with a run scored.

Columbus North 12 Shelbyville 1 – Brice McDaniel went 3-4 with a homerun, three RBI, and two runs, Korry Drum homered and drove in four runs, Collin Lollar was 2-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run, Cooper Trinkle went 2-4 with two runs, and Canaan Baum had a double, two RBI, and a run. Lollar struck out 12 in five innings allowing two hits and one unearned run.

Sectional 20

West Lafayette 9 Northwestern 8 – Colin Merriott hit a walk off two run homerun to put West Lafayette in the sectional title game. 

Western 5 Peru 1 – Dalton Leighty struck out 10 in a complete game win allowing one run on six hits. Douglass went 2-3 with a double, homerun, and three RBI, Luke Florek doubled, and Brodee Lipinski was 1-3 with a run scored.

Garrett 8 Leo 1 

Bishop Dwenger 9 Bishop Luers 3 – Andrew Rolfsen went 2-2 with a homerun, four RBI, and three runs, Grant Richardson was 2-3 with a double, RBI, and two runs, Jared Gernhardt was 1-2 with two RBI, Louis Garrett had a double, RBI, and a run, and Noah Freimuth was 2-3 with a run. Richardson got the win throwing four innings allowing three runs on four hits, striking out six.

Northview 4 Sullivan 1 

Owen Valley 7 Brown County 5 – Ryne Heckman threw five innings allowing five hits, no earned runs, and struck out five. Chase Roberts homered and drove in two runs, Parker Roberts had a double, two RBI, and a run, and Lane Trimble had a hit and a RBI.

Lake Station 7 Bowman Academy 5 – Nick Aguilar got the win throwing four innings allowing one earned run, three hits, and struck out seven. Marcus Farr and Aguilar each went 2-3 with a RBI and a run, Richie Santos was 1-3 with a RBI and two runs, and Michael Aguilar was 1-2 with a RBI. 

Bishop Noll 5 Whiting 0 – Zach Hoffman struck out 16 in a two hit shutout to get the win.

North Newton 12 Knox 3 – Noah Olive went 2-4 with two RBI, Jake Williamson went 1-2 with a double, two RBI, and a run, Logan Jenczalik was 1-2 with a double, RBI, and three runs, and Charlie Betts had a double, three RBI, and a run. Betts struck out 10 in six innings to get the win allowing two earned runs and six hits.

South Adams 7 Churubusco 3 – Jayden Dull went 3-4 with a double, homerun, two RBI, and two runs, Joe Stuber was 1-2 with a solo homerun and two runs scored, and Corbin Blomeke doubled and drove in a run. Grant Besser threw a complete game allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out seven.

No. 1 Lafayette Central Catholic 13 Carroll 2 – Coy Cronk went 2-2 with a double, homerun, and four RBI, Brady Bordenet was 2-3 with a homerun, five RBI, and two runs, Ben Tharp was 2-3 with a RBI and two runs, and Adam Lovell had a triple, RBI, and three runs. Jackson Anthrop struck out six in four innings to get the win allowing one earned run and six hits. 

Delphi 12 Fountain Central 2 – Clay Corbin went 1-2 with a homerun, three RBI, and two runs, Weston Windell went 2-4 with a double, triple, three RBI, and a run, Aaron Webb doubled twice and scored twice, and Derrick Dissinger went 2-2 with a triple, two RBI, and two runs. Blain Walters got the win throwing 4.1 innings allowing two runs and struck out six.

Taylor 12 Eastern 1 – Trevor Harris went 2-4 with a homerun, two RBI, and two runs, Anthony Ramirez doubled and drove in three, Stone Deckard was 2-3 with a homerun, two RBI, and two runs, Justin Moody went 1-3 with two RBI, and Peyton Tracy was 2-3 with a RBI. Noah Poe threw all five innings allowing one run on five hits, striking out nine.

No. 6 Wapahani 5 Shenandoah 4 F/9 – Alex Summers hit a sacrifice to bring in the winning run in the top of the ninth. Zack Thompson went 3-3 with a double, homerun, two RBI, and two runs, Hayden Castor doubled and drove in a run, Chandler Wise was 2-5 with a run, and Drew Young had a hit and a RBI. Castor threw all nine innings allowing one earned run, four hits, and struck out 15 to get the win. 

Frankton 16 Muncie Burris 0 – Landon Weins went 2-3 with a triple, four RBI, and two runs, Travis McGuire was 2-4 with a triple, RBI, and three runs, Logan Long was 2-2 with a double and two RBI, Connor Love was 2-3 with a triple, RBI, and a run, and Will Harris had a double, two RBI, and two runs. Long got the win throwing three innings allowing one hit and struck out three.

Northeastern 8 Centerville 4 – Garrett Dill went 2-4 with a solo homerun, Bailey Stewart was 2-3 with a double and two RBI, Dylan Baker was 2-3 with a RBI, and Logan Lawhorn went 1-2 with three RBI and two runs. Mason Fisher went 5.2 innings to get the win allowing three runs on five hits, striking out six.

Southmont 9 Cloverdale 2 – Boone Welliever struck out 10 in six innings allowing two runs on five hits. Aaron Cox went 2-3 with a RBI and two runs, Cole Wemer was 1-3 with a RBI and a run, and Ryan Stanley was 1-2 with a RBI and two runs.

Caston 9 West Central 1 – Brant Buczkowski went 2-3 with two RBI and a run, Nate Callender was 2-3 with a triple and a RBI, Galen Rentschler had a triple, two RBI, and a run, and Myles McDonald had a hit, RBI, and a run. Trey Young struck out 12 in six innings to get the win allowing one run on two hits. 

North White 11 North Miami 3 – Luke Diener went 3-4 with a double, three RBI, and three runs, Jake Quaseberth went 3-4 with a double and three runs, and Jarod Shane went 1-2 with a double, two RBI, and two runs. Gatlin Phelps got the win throwing four innings allowing one earned run, four hits, and struck out three.

South Central 12 LaVille 0 – Spencer Klemz went 2-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs, Kyle Schmack was 2-3 with a double, two RBI, and two runs, Thomas was 2-2 with two RBI, and a run, and Charles Crawford tripled and drove in three runs. RJ Snyder threw three shutout innings allowing three hits, striking out two.

Tri-Central 18 Liberty Christian 0 

Daleville 4 Cowan 3 – Brandon Vermillion threw a complete game allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out nine. TJ Price went 2-4 with a homerun, two RBI, and two runs, Chris Kinnick was 2-3 with a double and a RBI, and Gavin Whitmore was 1-2 with a RBI.

Tri 16 Union 2 – Masen Phelps went 2-3 with two doubles, three RBI, and two runs, Eric Bilby went 2-3 with a triple, RBI, and a run, Mason Rottinghaus was 2-3 with a RBI and two runs, and Gage Rowe went 1-2 with a RBI and two runs. Drew Mondrush got the win throwing all five innings allowing two runs on six hits, striking out eight. 

Cambridge City 18 Blue River Valley 14 – Baker went 2-4 with two RBI and three runs, Cornett was 3-5 with a double, RBI, and three runs, Cowan had a double, RBI, and four runs, Wilhite was 1-2 with a RBI and two runs, and Russell had a hit, two RBI, and a run. 

Hagerstown 10 Union City 0 – Sam Reagan struck out 12 throwing all five innings allowing just one hit. Trent Weiss went 2-2 with a RBI and two run, Trey Kelley doubled, drove in three runs, and scored, and Mason Hicks went 1-3 with two RBI and a run.

Clay City 4 White River Valley 3 – Hunter Wolfe struck out 16 in a complete game win.

University 3 School for the Deaf 2 – John Lawicki had a RBI single to bring Zach Nerney in for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Hudson Bebo went 1-3 with two RBI. Tyler Wott threw six innings allowing two runs on six hits, striking out six. Nerney got the win throwing one shutout inning, striking out three.
