Senior Spotlight: RHP/1B Joey Dodrill

By Greg Williams

DodrillJoey Dodrill went 5-2 with 49 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched in 2012. Unfortunately Dodrill has been limited to a few relief appearances and playing 1B for most of the 2013 campaign. That all changed on last night when Dodrill went to the mound for his first start of his senior season and the wait was worth it.

Dodrill spun a five-inning one-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks against George Washington in a 10-0 St. Albans' win. The senior helped his own cause going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Dodrill had thrown just six innings this season as he worked back from shoulder pain, but showed no signs of the injury last night. He limited the high powered Patriots offense to just its 2nd shutout loss of the season.

To his credit, Dodrill found other ways to contribute while he nursed his ailing arm. His .395 average leads the team, while his 13 RBI are 2nd. His 12 walks and .574 on base percentage also lead the St. Albans' roster.
