The Texas high school season kicks off on February 19, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 26, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. SEASON PREVIEW

Coach Micah Blackmon and the Westwood Panthers will look to build off a productive 2017 season that saw the team's young pitching staff go through some growing pains. But, returning are six starters and two pitchers. Coach Blackmon is confident in his experienced defense. Seniors OF Brandon Stotts, 1B/RHP Coleman Walters, OF JP Hucklebridge and 2B Kam Collier will be looked upon to provide leadership as well as shoulder the offensive output. The young duo of SS/RHP JP Hollingsworth and C/3B Nathan Cheatham will have to mature quickly as they will be counted on to contribute right away.
