State Tournament Roundup: May 22 Games

Division II-A State Championship Game

University School of Jackson 8, Tipton-Rosemark 4
Logan Carey went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Austin Orr went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, Joseph Patterson went 2-for-4 with a double, and Ben Brauss added two hits and drove in a run.  Alex Garrett went the distance on the mound, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts as USJ won the Division II-A State Title.

Division II-AA State Championship Game

McCallie 8, Memphis University School 0
Tyler Payne went 2-for-3 with a RBI, and Christian Burnett added two hits and drove in a run as McCallie exploded for five runs in the second inning and never looked back.  Elliott Dockery fired a complete game, four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in leading McCallie to the state title.

Class AAA State Tournament Results

Riverdale 4, Farragut 0
Riverdale forced a second game with Farragut in the shutout victory.  Andrew Huff went 3-for-4 with a double, and Kaleb Swayze went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI in the win.  Charlie Fultz scattered nine hits in going the distance in the complete-game shutout.

Farragut 3, Riverdale 2
Duncan Pence went 2-for-3, and Sam Schulze drove in a run as Farragut avenged the earlier loss to advance to the Class AAA State Title Game.  Dylan Pacifico fired a complete game, allowing no earned runs while striking out five in the win. 

Houston 7, Dyer County 1
Alex Sala homered and drove in three runs, and Logan Blackfan added a two-run shot as Houston scored three times in the second and three times in the third to blow the game open.  Jack Rude scattered six hits and allowed no earned runs in going the distance to advance Houston to the Class AAA State Championship Game.

Class AA State Tournament Results

Knoxville Catholic 10, Sequoyah 3
Austin Kearney went 3-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI, Turner Whitfield went 3-for-3 with a RBI, John Mark Broussard added two hits and drove in a run, and will Martinez drove in two runs as Knoxville Catholic jumped on Sequoyah early to force a Game 2.  Mike Fitzgerald allowed two earned runs and struck out four in the complete game win.

Knoxville Catholic 6, Sequoyah 4
Turner Whitfield completed a huge day going 3-for-3 for the second consecutive game.  Whitfield drove in two runs as Knoxville Catholic built an early 6-1 lead and held on to advance to the Class AA State Championship Game.

Christian Academy Knoxville 9, Murfreesboro Central 0
Zac Osborne went 3-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI, Trey Hinton went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, Pierce Merry added two hits and two RBI, and John Sharpe went 2-for-4 with a RBI as CAK advanced to the Class AA State Championship Game.  Brandon Zortman allowed just two hits in six shutout innings

Class A State Tournament Results

Goodpasture 8, Jackson Christian 2
J.R. Davis went 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI, Casey Wiseman went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Jordan Goff added an RBI double as Goodpasture put up five runs in the first and never looked back.  Wyatt Blessing allowed seven hits and one earned run in going the distance for the win.  With the win, Goodpasture forced an additional game with Jackson Christian.

Jackson Christian 4, Goodpasture 3
Robert Nickias tripled and drove in two runs, and Hayden Crowe and Wesley Wester combined to allow two earned runs over 6.2 innings as Jackson Christian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and held on for the win.  Jackson Christian advanced to the Class A State Championship Game with the win.

Knoxville Grace 6, North Greene 3
Chandler Adkins went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Josh Liford went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI as Knoxville Grace advanced to the Class A State Championship Game.
