The Mississippi high school season kicks off on February 26, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 29, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. Outlook

The New Hope Trojans return a solid core from a 2018 team that came up short in the 4A State Finals but finished with an overall record of 29-7. Coach Lee Boyd and the Trojans will rely on stellar pitching as they return their number one and two pitchers from last season in Peyton Springfield and Ryan Burt. Springfield logged 72 innings last year and recorded 84 strikeouts while Burt got 70 innings and finished with a 1.89 ERA. Look for Tyler Murphy  to provide a spark in the lineup as he return from a productive junior season where he hit .363 with 11 doubles and three home runs. Rye McGlothin will also be a big piece to the puzzle and a productive bat in the linup as he drove in 37 runs a season ago.  The New Hope Trojans have a talented roster with the experience need to make a return to Trustmark.
