Tennessee Insider: Standouts From Dulins Dodgers Run at 17U WWBA National Championship

The WWBA 17U National Championship was held July 4-11 in Georgia, and the Dulins Dodgers, bolstered by standout pitching and offensive production, had an impressive showing by posting an 8-1 record.

Out of the 300+ teams that participated in the tournament, the Dodgers fought their way to the final 16 before falling to East Cobb Baseball 4-0.

Here is a look at some of the players from Tennessee on the Dodgers roster that turned in standout performances.

Trysten Barlow, LHP/1B, L/L, Dyer County HS, 2015
Barlow showcased his talents on the mound where he threw a complete game, allowing only three hits, while recording five strikeouts. His fastball was reportedly clocked at 87-90 mph.  Barlow has committed to Ole Miss.

Seth Grant, LHP, Homeschool, Oakland, TN, 2015
In four innings of work, the southpaw picked up a win, allowing three hits and no earned runs while racking up seven strikeouts.  Grant is currently uncommitted.

Connor Green, RHP/1B, R/R, St. Georges, 2015
The 6 foot 3, 180-pound Green was strong on the mound where he threw six innings, surrendereing two earned runs on five hits while striking out four.  Green’s fastball reportedly topped out at 89 mph. At the plate he was just as impressive with several timely hits and runs scored.  Green has committed to play at Ole Miss.

A.J. Hunt, C/Utility, R/R, Memphis University School, 2015

Hunt showed flashes at the plate where he did it all collecting base hits and scoring and driving in runs.  The rising senior is still uncommitted.

Parker Phillips, 1B/3B, C, R/R, Collerville HS, 2015
Standing an imposing 6 foot 4 and weighing 230 pounds, it's no secret why Phillips can get it done at the plate.  He had multiple multi-hit games, and his performance was highlighted by a home run against DeMarini Gold.  Parker has committed to play for the Austin Peay Governors.

Ethan Small, LHP, Lexington HS, 2015
The 6 foot 4, 180 pound rising senior had an impressive showing going five complete innings, giving up no earned runs and one hit while fanning  seven.  Small’s fastball was reportedly 83-88 mph, and he had his curve ball working at 67-73.  He has committed to play for Austin Peay.
