Name: Luke Chece
High School: CBA
Position(s): RHP
Commitment: -

Background

Luke Chece is a 6-foot, 180 pound right-handed pitcher from Christian Brothers Academy; one of the state’s top baseball programs. He has an athletic build with some room to fill out. The right-hander performed very well at our Top Prospect Games back in July and should have earned himself some recruiting interest.

Scouting Report

Chece pitches with a good tempo and upbeat mechanics. He has good rhythm in his windup that makes him repeat well. He does land across his body, which restricts his lower half a bit but it did not impact him ability to command the ball down to his glove side. Pitching from a ¾ arm slot, he hides the ball well. His velocity was 81-84 miles-per-hour on his fastball and 70-73 MPH on his breaking ball. The curveball shape is average with potential for more depth as the spin rate is pretty solid. His changeup is a solid off-speed offered sitting between 72 and 76 MPH with arm side fade. Chece mixes his three-pitch mix efficiently; constantly giving hitters multiple looks. He is a solid college prospect who should have some choices.
