Top Ranked Class of 2012 Players, Where Are They Now

The Class of 2012 had tremendous depth, with many of the top players having success in college or preparing for their pro seasons after rookie ball. How are the top ranked Class of 2012 players doing in their college and pro careers at this point? Here is a look at the Top 10 Players from 2012 and where they are now: 

Tate Matheny-Missouri State- The 2012 Player of the Year Matheny has made the transition from high school to college seamlessly. He leading Missouri State with a  .383  batting average  and 14 RBIs, tied for the team lead with two home runs, and third on the team with five doubles. 

Matt Fultz- Seminole State CC-After a disappointing late round draft pick in 2012, Fultz is once again showing his power potential and looking to get drafted again this year. He is leading Seminole State CC in homeruns with four and RBIs with 23. Overall his is hitting .260 with six doubles and one triple. 

Blake McFadden-Kansas State- In limited action early in the season, 2012’s PBR Pitcher of the Year is 1-1 with 2.93 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched, striking out 11 batters. McFadden has shown to be effective out of the bullpen as a freshman, and is a key to their success. 

William DuPont-Toronto Blue Jays-DuPont signed with the Totonto Blue Jays after being selected in the 16th round of the draft and is currently in spring training with the Toronto Blue Jays minor league camp. Last season, DuPont played at Dunedin of the Gulf Coast League hitting .214 with a double, triple, and four stolen bases in 15 games played. 

Bralin Jackson-Tampa Bay Rays- Bralin Jackson signed with the Tampa Bay Rays out of high school, a 5thround pick of the Tampa Bay Rays and is currently in minor league spring training. Jackson hit .253 in 39 games with five doubles, four triples, and 11 RBIs as a rookie for the Gulf Coast Rays. 

Justin Chigbogu-Los Angeles Dodgers- Justin Chigobogu was 6th round draft pick of the LA Dodgers, currently in currently in minor league spring training. In his rookie season he hit .200 with three homeruns and 12 RBIs in 32 games for the Rookie Arizona League affiliate. 

Danny Holst-Texas A&M-Hasn’t seen any time yet, but as the season goes on, should see some playing time on a very young A&M team. 

Jonathan Harris- Missouri State- Harris worked his way into the stating rotation and has posted a 4-0 record (most wins among the starters) and has  1.80 ERA in 25 innings pitched, while fanning 26 Ks. Harris has only given up five earned runs and hitters a batting a paltry .202 against him so far this season. 

Matt Hall- Missouri State- Hall has shown to be effective as both a started and out of the bullpen. He has started two games and seen action in two games going  1-0 in 12.1 innings pitched, with a 1.46 ERA and strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched. Hall is holding opposing batters to a 1.52 batting average. 

Hunter Haynes- Kansas City Royals- Haynes signed with the Royals after being selected in the 13th round of the 2012 draft. Haynes played for the Arizona Rookie League affiliate. Haynes had 14 appearances, going 3-3: 0-2 as a started and 3-1 as a reliever. In 35.2 innings of work, Haynes struck out 34 and allowed 31 earned runs.
