Trent Astle Dominant as Jeffersonville Advances



Jeffersonsville, IN – Trent Astle (2013) was dominant on the mound on Thursday night leading Jeffersonville to a 2-0 win over Floyd Central. Jeffersonville playing on their home field, but the visiting team struck first. In the top of the first inning Issac Crafton (Liberty) was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a deep fly ball. With two outs Astle stepped up and lined a ball over second to bring home the first run of the game.

That would be all the offense Astle would need allowing just four hits throughout the game and striking out ten. In the final four innings Astle threw he allowed just one hit, an infield single in the 7th inning. In the second inning Astle took a line drive off the hand, but remained in the game and set the next three batters down in order.

Jeffersonville had many opportunities to add onto their lead leaving 13 runners on bases and in two innings leaving the bases loaded. In the fourth Jeffersonville loaded the bases with two outs (after having second and third with no outs), chasing Floyd starting pitcher Kyle Sipes from the game. Matt Powers came in a shut the door striking out the only batter he faced that inning.

In the fifth Drew Ellis (2014) provided Jeffersonville with a little insurance, driving a ball that quickly left the yard over the left field fence.

In the 7th Astle got the first hitter to fly out and then after an infield single, he struck out the final two batters to put an exclamation point on the win.
