Triton Central 7 Park Tudor 9

Indianapolis, IN--- Broad Ripple is the place to be most weekends for excitement and unexpected events, but this time it took place on the diamond just up the road between Park Tudor and Triton Central. It was an eventful game between the hosts and Triton Central who sent Vanderbilt commit and PBR #1 Luke Stephenson to the mound.

Triton Central got on the board first with a big five-run third inning. With one out, Park Tudor starter Madison Foster got into some trouble. Two walks, two singles, and two men reaching on errors helped the Tigers cross the plate. Seniors David Chapman and Austin Pitman picked up RBIs on back to back base hits. A leadoff homerun by Stephenson in the fifth gave the visitors a six run advantage.

In the bottom half, however, Park Tudor came roaring back. Four runs in the fifth on a 2-RBI double by Foster that Senior Chris Eckersley followed with an RBI double of his own. Eckersley had quite the afternoon going 4 for 4 with two doubles, a triple, and an RBI. But it was Foster’s big hit the next inning that made the game interesting.

Down 6-5, Park Tudor chased Stephenson from the mound after he allowed a run and loaded the bases on walks. Chapman took the mound to face Foster. One swing later and a fastball was turned around and sent over the left field fence for a grand slam and a 9-6 lead. The Panther’s bench erupted feeling confident with ace Kevin Rex having coming in in relief, and Stephenson departing.

A seventh inning run from Triton and two men reaching kept the game in sight, but Rex sent Park Tudor to the championship game striking out two in the last inning.

For Park Tudor, Eckersley had an enormous day at the dish as did Foster. The one through four hitters combined to go 8 for 14 with three walks, eight RBIs, and six runs scored. Triton Central was lead offensively by Stephenson who went 2 for 3 with a homerun and three runs scored. Pitman also helped his side driving in three. Stephenson struck out eight in 5.2 innings.

Park Tudor would go on to knock off Union County and advance to the Semi State.
