Prep Baseball Report

Two 2019 Infielders Making A Name For Themselves

Andrew Roberts and Daniel Bautista are two of the top 2019 infielders in Florida who are not yet committed. I know it sounds ridiculous to even mention the fact that they are not committed yet, but 12 of their fellow Florida freshmen have already given the nod to division I schools. Roberts and Bautista are not only quality prospects, but they have contributed more than their fair share to their respective varsity teams this season. In fact, Roberts hits in the top of the order for Trinity Prep and was one of the offensive leaders for his squad in their district tournament. Bautista also has been a sure-handed shortstop and provided timely hits for a Steinbrenner team that is playing in an 8A regional final game next week.

Of course we do not know when either of these young men will commit, but there is not much debate over whether either of them are division I prospects. Here are reports on both players from recent 2016 playoff games:

Andrew Roberts, 3B/RHP, Trinity Prep (2019)
6-foot-1, 175 pound third baseman who has a loose, athletic, and projectable body with strength. He is ranked 16th in Florida and 42nd overall. He possesses soft hands in the field with advanced actions for his age and a loose, ¾ arm action with above average arm strength throwing across the diamond. At the plate he has a good base and gets a big separation and hand trigger for his load. Roberts has an easy stroke with a nice plane through the zone that allows him to barrel up pitches all over the strike zone. He can really drive the ball the other way well for his age and the ball jumps off his bat.

Daniel Bautista, SS, Steinbrenner HS (2019)
6-foot-2, 170-pound shortstop who is ranked 15th in Florida and 40th overall. He has a lean, long, athletic, and projectable frame with smooth actions all over the field. He has advanced actions in the infield for his age with soft hands and a solid average high school shortstop arm. At the plate he has good rhythm, gets a separation for his load, and stays balanced in his stance and throughout his swing. He also has a short, quick swing with a nice bat plane through the zone. Bautista will continue to improve his tools and overall game with strength, maturity, and experience.
