As we head into the fall, we are beginning to see tons of 2024 graduates make commitments to play at the next level. Indiana's 2024 class features a deep crop of talent, with plenty of prospects still left on the board. Today, we take a deeper look at '24 RHP/3B Pernell Whitsett of Northridge HS.

A two-way prospect with a physical build - Whitsett offers a unique profile with powerful arm strength and a left-handed swing with power. The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder has ample strength within his lower-half that allows him to produce a fastball that reaches into the upper-80s (T 88 mph). Whitsett has a long and uninterrupted arm swing that accelerates to his H 3/4 release point. He shows feel for a 11/5 shaped curveball at 71-74 mph with depth that he can land for a strike. On the offensive side of the ball, the left-handed hitter has a loose, level swing plane that with solid hand-eye coordination that allows for feel for the barrel. A 7.15 runner, Pernell's arm strength translates from the bump to the hot-corner, where he has been 88 mph across the infield.
