Scouting Report

3/18/18- 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #12 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Athletic frame with present lean strength. 7.31 runner. Open stance, easy knee to knee trigger, some length to contact, generates bat speed, solid round of bp, consistent solid contact, mid/pull approach with line drive swing plane, 89 mph exit velocity. Soft hands, blocks well, high stance, clean exchange, quick release, accurate to bag, 77 mph arm strength with 1.87-1.96 pop times. On mound; tempo and rhythm to delivery, compact arm action, some stiffness in lower half, lands inline to catcher, avg. finish to plate. Fastball was 82-83 mph with flashes of life and varying action. Tighter breaking ball with 11/5 shape and 2-plane break. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with solid fade and depth.

 

3/18/17- 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.45 runner. Square spread stance, shoulder load, slight arm bar, lift in swing plane, flashes of hard line drive contact, mid/away approach, 84 mph exit velocity. Has athleticism behind plate, moves well, sways to pitches, ability to stick low strike, block well, strides open to throw, quick release, solid/avg. accuracy to bag, 1.9-1.96 pop times with 76 mph arm strength. On mound; works primarily out of stretch, high leg kick, solid body control, lands closed and inline with catcher, clean arm action, throws downhill from OT slot. Fastball was thrown for strikes at 82-84 mph on steep downhill plane. Solid velo and spin on breaking ball for strikes. Changeup is thrown at fastball arm speed with fade.

10/24/16- 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.08 runner. Balanced stance, body load, linear hitter with good weight transfer, short to contact, consistent hard line drive contact working gap to gap, 84 mph exit velocity. Above avg. carry to bag with accurate throws, will only improve with better direction with feet and staying low on throws, athletic receiver behind plate, sticks pitches, moves well, shows ability to block, and has soft hands. 72 mph arm strength with 2.02-2.14 pop times. On mound; controlled tempo with compact repeatable delivery, short stride down mound, upright on release from OT slot. Fastball was 78-80 mph, straight, delivered on slight downhill plane. Heavy feel to breaking ball with good shape and avg. spin. Shows solid run, sink, and fade on changeup.

Lovcik: I’m looking at several D1 and D2 schools.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Lovcik: Yes.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Lovcik: High academics, a strong business program, and a good baseball program.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?

Lovcik: Hitting .470 with 4 home runs.

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

Lovcik: Hit .500 with 6 homeruns and get faster and stronger.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Lovcik: Football
