Scouting Report

6/19/18- 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #119 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.4 runner. Square stance, easy leg kick trigger, line drive swing, short to contact, works middle of field, line drive hitter, 82 mph exit velocity. Solid receiver and moves well behind the dish, clean exchanges, average footwork on throws, solid accuracy to bag, 75 mph arm strength with 2.09-2.18 pop times.

3/18/18- 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.8 runner. Square stance, leg kick trigger, shows rhythm in hands, consistent hard contact, mid/pull approach, ground ball and line drive contact, 80 mph exit velocity. Flexible behind plate, solid receiver, length to exchange, longer arm action, 76 mph arm strength with 2.15-2.19 pop times.

 

10/22/17- 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.64 runner. Open stance, strides to square, slight leg kick trigger, consistent solid contact, flashes hard line drives, gap to gap hitter, uses hands well in swing, 93 mph exit velocity. Good weight shift behind plate, centers ball to body, works underneath baseball well, clean exchange, short arm stroke, solid footwork through plate, online throws, short to bag, 75 mph arm strength with 2.07-2.10 pop times.

 

10/24/16- 5-foot-9, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.81 runner. Active load and stride, off-time in swing, stays on baseball at contact, hard ground ball contact, works middle of field, 80 mph exit velocity. Side-saddle behind plate, works through batter’s box, length to release, arm works well, avg. accuracy and carry to bag, 68 mph arm strength with 2.22-2.46 pop times.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Brown: St. Johns, Lawrence University, Gustavus, DePauw, William Jewell College, Drury, Colby, and St. Olaf.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Brown: I have visited St. Olaf, Gustavus, and DePauw. I am scheduled to visit Lawrence and St. Johns in the coming weeks.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Brown: Looking particularly for a school with a strong baseball program that also has good academics and is in the Midwest.  

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?

Brown: I hit in the .300's, was named all conference and helped lead a young team to section final and a Conference championship. 

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

Brown: I am hoping to be All- Conference, and potentially All-State. My main goal for this year is to lead my team to a state championship. We have a lot of good up and coming players along with a lot of strong seniors that lead us. 

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Brown: I used to play football, but I stopped to be able to focus on my academics and baseball career. 

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

Brown: ACT: 30 GPA: 3.0
