There has been a flurry of commitments in the last month as schools scramble to fill out their 2016 classes. In preparation for November’s Unsigned Senior Games at the University of Mary Washington, Prep Baseball Report VA/DC will take a look at a few of the top available players in each position group. The 2016 Class in Virginia and DC is extremely deep, and there are still a decent number of players available who have the talent to become major contributors during their college careers. Here are the top remaining uncommitted catchers in the Class of 2016:

Elijah Quiceno, C, Stone Bridge, 2016
Quiceno, is a 5-foot-11, 175 pound, athletic catcher that hits from a balanced stance with high hands. He has a smooth load back with a slight leg kick and explosive bat speed, generating an exit velocity of 89 mph off of the tee in November 2014. He has a good line drive approach with the ability to utilize the middle of the field with power. Defensively, Quiceno is an athletic catcher that has polished skills. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot and posted a positional velocity of 78 mph last November. Quiceno utilizes quick feet and a quick transfer out of his crouch. He has plus feel for in-game pitch calling, and is a leader on the field. He does a very good job of quietly swaying to pitches and presents a very good strike to umpires. He posted pop times of 1.96 to 2.03 last November.
