Unsigned Senior RHP Dominates on Mound for Corydon Central

By Phil Wade
Director of Operations, PBR Indiana

Sellersburg, IN---The Silver Creek Dragons played host to Mid Southern Conference rival Corydon Central, and unsigned senior RHP Chase Burton. Burton was the story of the game, as he was too much to handle for Silver Creek.  Burton threw 5 innings of shutout baseball allowing just three hits while striking out nine.

Silver Creek only put pressure on Burton in the first when they loaded the bases behind a single from Jamie Valvano and two walks. Burton would strike out two and induce an inning ending fly ball to work around the bases loaded jam.

Offensively, Corydon scored one in the first and opened up the game with three in the third. Mitch Akers and Robert Morrow led the offensive attack for the Panthers. Akers was 2-2 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Morrow was 1-1 with 3 RBIs.

The Panthers went on to win 6-0 over the Silver Creek Dragons.
