Jack Cleary, RHP, St. Xavier HS, Class of 2013

Today’s spotlight is on unsigned senior Jack Cleary, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound RHP from St. Xavier HS in Louisville.

PBR saw Cleary in a fall game this past weekend at Transylvania University.  We consistently clocked his fastball at 83-84 mph, and he showed good command of a tight slider that sat at 75-77 mph.  What is certainly impressive is his ability to attack the strike zone.  Cleary throws strikes to both sides of the plate and changes speeds well to keep hitters off balance.  With a projectable build, Cleary could certainly add more velocity in the future.

Look for Cleary to play a key role on the mound in 2013, as St. Xavier attempts to represent the 7^th region at the State Tournament in Lexington for the third straight year.
