Most players have aspirations of playing baseball for a long time, but in reality only 1% of HS athletes will play professional baseball. For unsigned senior Ron Williams,

“Coach Griesbaum has taught me as much about life as about baseball. We are taught that we must succeed off the field, especially in our academics, in order to succeed on the field. Most importantly, however, is that I have learned that being a good person and doing the right thing always comes first in order to achieve success.”

Ron understands that he needs to succeed academically in order to succeed in life. Ron currently has a 3.72 GPA and scored a 31 on his ACT and is looking to study business/finance.

Ron is 6-foot-0, 200 pounds with a strong frame.  Behind the plate, he displays a quick arm while throwing through an over the top slot with short arm action.  Recorded pop time splits between 2.08 and 2.19. Reached a top arm velocity of 72 mph on throws.  At the plate, he uses a slightly open stance with short stride.  Lower half usage allows for the ball to jump off his bat.  Consistently barreled balls showing some gap to gap power potential.  Reached an impressive exit velocity of 90 mph off the tee.  Ran a 7.22 60 yard dash time.

Ron is currently considering Albion College, Hillsdale College, Kalamazoo College and is garnering other offers for his future endeavors, all great academic programs.

Some of Ron’s biggest influences has been his father, who has been there every step of the way for him, and current Michigan 1B Carmen Benedetti.

Ron on Carmen, “Not only is he a talented baseball player, but Carmen is an even better person. He taught me a lot when we were teammates and I still look up to him.”

In the summer, Ron played with Coach Randy Sparks and Underwood Orr Baseball
