Ty Dundore 2014, C,  Mattawan HS

For unsigned senior Ty Dundore, baseball can teach you many things. To fight for something you are passionate about, whether it be on or off the field, the ability to develop mental toughness, and to outwork everyone on the field every day to be the best player possible.

Off the field, Ty’s biggest influence is his catching coach Greg Wright. Coach Wright was a former catcher at Iowa State University as well as the former head baseball coach at Mattawan HS and is a teacher at Mattawan. Ty works with Coach Wright three times a week and credits him with helping him pursue his dreams of playing college baseball.

With an evenly proportioned, athletic body at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, Ty employs an opposite field approach while the barrel is in the zone for a while with a slight uppercut. Defensively, he sticks pitches with strong hands and is adept at keeping balls in front of him. The arm plays due to footwork and transfer.

Ty is currently undecided on a specific major but is considering mechanical engineering, physical therapy/exercise-science, and sport management. Ty is also a great student as he has a 4.0 GPA and also scored a 28 on his ACT test. Some schools he is considering includes: Morehead State, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Adrian College, Hope College, and Transylvania University (KY).
