Updated and Expanded Class of 2014 Player Rankings



J.J. Matijevic (Norwin) continues to head the field of prospects in this class. Others are closing in fast however. Matijevic is coming off a sophomore campaign that ended with him being named the Player of the year in the WPIAL. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound third baseman has a solid glove and a plus arm. He shows advanced power and the potential to be a consistent home run threat at the next level.

No. 2 ranked Brendan McKay (Blackhawk) had a stellar season on the mound and continues to push for the No. 1 rankinig. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound left hander sits 85-86 mph with an effortless fast ball and has a plus curve ball that he commands at any count.

Zach Jankarski (OF, Chestnut Hill Academy), Colton Hock (RHP, Bloomsburg) and Dominic Cuoci (SS/RHP, LaSalle College Prep) round out the top five.

Of the top five, McKay and Cuoci will represent Team Pennsylvania at the Under Armour Midwest Future Games on the campus of the University of Illinois in early August. Matijevic and Hock had to pull out due to selections to other national invitation events. Jankarski suffered a summer ending injury that will prevent him from makin the trip to Illinois.
