Last weekend saw nearly thirty teams in the Virginia Open. The Richmond area tournament format was effected by weather leading into the weekend, as well as continued poor weather throughout the weekend, but it did not prevent some of these players from showing well in front of our staff.

Virginia Open Top Performers

Lukas Harbour RHP / Riverside, VA / 2026

One of the more impressive 2026's from last weekend. Harbour was an impact player on both sides of the ball. At the plate it is a wider base, simple load with higher set hands that drop slightly, and then a flatter path to contact. On the mound it is a pretty low three-quarter slot with some funk to the arm action. The fastball has distinct arm side run, sitting in the low 80's, and a slider that has more horizontal shape. Tough look from both sides of the plate.

Nathen Hock C / SS / Cosby, VA / 2026

Compact frame with a higher motor. Showed controlled aggression in the load and swing, as well as some feel for the barrel. Sprayed line drives around the field and turned a few into extra base hits. Was a spark plug for the Spiders offense. Room to grow and will need to add strength, but shows some solid bat to ball skills.

Camden Hodges C / SS / Liberty, MD / 2023

Lean 6-foot, 185-pound frame. Rhythm in the load and swing, simple with the hands and path, and shows some adjustability in the swing. Longer, easy strides out of the box and appears to have an extra gear when he wants to use it. Offensive upside with some projection left to the frame and could add some good strength.

Zavion Jackson OF / RHP / Henrico, VA / 2025

Strong athletic frame with raw strength in the frame and physicality that translates into the game. Had a strong showing this past weekend, especially on Sunday. Caugh multiple barrels and showed his raw power to all fields, scorching a few extra base hits to the backside of the field. Average run tool that plays a step quicker in game.

AJ Kolb SS / OF / Stephen Decatur, MD / 2024

Kolb is a 2022 Future Games alum and once again showed why he was a part of Team Mid-Atlantic last year. The versatile defender and elite runner was red hot this weekend. Later load and separation and swing can have some length to it. Stays centered with the weight and balance. With the setup, load, and balance, Kolb will use the middle and backside a bit more, with some extra base pop to all fields. Is a high end runner and will continue to excel as he produces bat to ball.

Chase Krause OF / North Stafford, VA / 2024

Mature frame for the' 24 outfielder. Loads back in rhythm and shows some twitch in the hands before triggering the swing. Level path and sprays it gap to gap.

Henry McFarlin IV C / OF / Western Branch, VA / 2024

Open and upright in the box. Remains upright into the swing and has some uphill finish. Twitch in actions and has another gear on the bases that he can use any time he wants. Lean athletic frame with some upside.

Zack Molloy OF / RHP / Saint James School, MD / 2024

Square and slightly crouched at the plate. Hands stay tight and a level path through the zone gives him line drive tendencies. Offensive upside with this 2024.

Nate Payne LHP / OF / Central Dauphin, PA / 2024

The Mid-Atlantic State Games alum was one of the more impressive arms we saw all weekend. Full arm action and builds intent in the delivery. Plenty of arm speed and ball jumps on hitters. The upper 80's offering has hard arm side run and gave right handers a hard time, especially to the arm side. Showed two secondary offerings, but the fastball was the big winner on the day.

Charlie Richwine LHP / 1B / Stafford, VA / 2024

Durable frame with a low effort delivery. Low-mid 80's fastball from a low three-quarter arm slot. The velo has some room to make a jump, especially with some added intent to the delivery. Bigger shape on the breaking ball and showed some feel for the changeup.

Edwin Sanchez OF / RHP / Freedom (South Riding), VA / 2024

One of the more intriguing, uncommitted 2024 bats in the state. Physical, athletic, solid bat to ball, and has the speed to potentially stay in center. The frame has held strength well and has some room to add more. Loud, impactful barrels and shows some carry to all fields. One that coaches need to see this summer.

Dom Tozzi RHP / C / Camp Hill, PA / 2024

Tozzi is a hard nosed player that has strong offensive upside. Does not get cheated at the plate or on the mound, where flashed 86 on the weekend with a high intent delivery. Relaxed and balanced at the plate before a unleashing the barrel through the zone. Some twitch in the wrists during the load and has some violence to the barrel with extension out front. Had a big weekend at the plate and will be one to watch this summer.
