WA Top Prospect Session I: Preview

Josh Schoenberg
Scouting and Operations Assistant

This Tuesday, July 11, the PBR Washington team is hosting the first session of the WA Top Prospect Games at Island Crest Park. This is an invite-only event for the classes of 2024-26 gives our staff an ample look at the area's top uncommitted players.

For a closer look at the showcase details and the technologies we'll have on-site to assist our in-person evaluation for all in attendance, click here. For a complete look at those registered to attend this event, view the most up-to-date version of the roster by clicking here.

Event history

This is our third year hosting the event, and last year provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, such as our Preseason All-State or the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2022, there are already 28 commitments among them.

At this event last year, OF Elliot Oster (Liberty) put together an impressive all-around workout. He ran a 6.90 60-yard dash, posted a 95 mph max exit velocity, and tossed an event-best 86 mph from the outfield. His performance cemented himself as a name-to-know in the PNW's rising senior class, and earned him an invite to the 2022 PBR Future Games.

We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.

2023 roster

This year's roster is already taking shape nicely.

Tuesday's roster will feature a multitude of prospects that are ranked in their respective classes, all of whom are still uncommitted. This includes RHP Gavin Clark (Jackson, 2026), 1B/OF Brody Bouwman (Lynden Christian, 2024), OF Jackson Hotchkiss (Battle Ground, 2024), OF DJ Parker (Garfield, 2024), RHP Bryce Collins (Kelso, 2026), and OF Jackson Dulay (Kentwood, 2024)

Clark is an athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with plenty of room to add on more mass that already has a mid-80s fastball with impressive spin efficiencies.

Gavin Clark

Bouwman is a physical 6-foot-3, 205-pounds with plenty of bat strength. He has posted triple digit exit velocities in front of our staff in the past, to go along with eye-popping Blast metrics.

Brody Bouwman

Hotchkiss is a physical specimen at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds and is one of the best athletes in the class, running a 6.80 60-yard dash with a 105+ mph max exit velocity and a mid-to-high 80s arm from the outfield.

Jackson Hotchkiss

Parker is listed at 6-foot, 160-pounds. He is a quick twitch athlete that generates easy hand speed. He has an intriguing toolset, running a sub-7 second 60-yard dash and low-90s exit velocities.

DJ Parker

Collins is a lean and high waisted 6-foot-1, 165-pounds with plenty of room for future physical projection. He has a high-spin profile with a fastball that already sits in the low-to-mid 80s.

Bryce Collins

Dulay is an athletic 6-foot-3, 188-pounds with one of the loudest toolsets in the PNW's 2024 class. He runs a 6.83 60-yard dash, has posted 99+ mph exit velocities, and throws 87 mph from the outfield.

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Wednesday's event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.
