Wauconda's Kevin Malisheski Spins Shutout Against Lakes

WAUCONDA, IL- One of the areas best pitching matchups lived up to the hype as Wauconda junior Kevin Malisheski out-dueled Chase Slota and Lakes for a 1-0 victory Tuesday afternoon.

Wauconda starter Kevin Malisheski was in command from the first pitch of the game working seven innings allowing just three hits while striking out eleven, and facing 24 of a possible 21 hitters. Malisheski, who is uncommitted, worked 84-86 mph with his fastball maintaining his velocity throughout the game.

The Bulldogs scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the third. Brian McFarlin doubled with one out and after a strikeout Collin Shrader and Jacob Bicknase worked walks to load the bases for Luke Weller. Weller was hit by a pitch forcing in the only run of the game. Wauconda threated again in the bottom of the sixth loading the bases with two outs but could not push across any runs.

Slota worked six innings allowing five hits and striking out six for the Eagles

Wauconda improves to 10-12 on the season as Lakes drops to 19-7-1 on the year. Both teams will continue the two game series tomorrow at Lakes beginning at 4:30.
