Welcome to Prep Baseball Report Michigan

Michigan we have it covered NEW

With great pleasure, we bring to you Prep Baseball Report Michigan. Our mission in Michigan mirrors that all our other state-specific coverage: to provide the most comprehensive in-state information, to promote high school baseball and, ultimately help Michigan prep athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level. Our goal is to be the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in Michigan.

Although it will take some time to achieve the status of our other states, we are certain we have the right person to thoroughly, accurately and honestly cover Michigan:

Mike Penn.

Penn has a wealth of baseball experience and knowledge, most of which is firmly rooted in Michigan. Penn enjoyed a decorated career at the University of Michigan as a right-handed pitcher, where he served as the team captain in 2005. An 11th-round draft pick by the Royals, Penn went on to play five years of professional baseball. He also served as the interim pitching coach at the University of Michigan (2009-2010). Penn has served as the pitching coach at Dexter High School for two years.

Penn’s right-hand man, Mike Schmidt, is also firmly rooted in Michigan baseball. Schmidt starred at Saginaw Heritage High School, where he earned first-team all-state honors, before going on to play four years at the University of Michigan as an outfielder. Schmidt also worked at Athletes’ Performance, where he trained professional baseball players.

Penn and Schmidt will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information Michigan has ever seen, to see as many players, and provide coverage to all corners of the state. But he can’t do it alone. Please email him at [email protected] with college commitments, relevant news, and top players in your area.

Michigan summer events are already set up at top-flight venues across the state. Prep Baseball Report events are designed to give players the maximum exposure needed to advance to the next level. Not only will players receive high-level exposure from college coaches, but all players at events will be videotaped, and the edited performance will be hosted online. All players’ profiles, verified statistics and write-ups can be searched in our expansive player database.

If this is your first time visiting the site, we hope that you bookmark www.prepbaseballreport.com and it becomes a daily visit.

Please make sure you check out our newest (and coolest) website feature: The Advanced Search. You could always search any player by their name, school, class, and position from all our state databases. You know, the standard stuff. The Advanced Search takes the finding capabilities to new levels.

In the Advanced Search, you can search pitching velocity ranges, pop times, 60 times, positional velocities. Moreover, you can search the same criteria, then take it another level, by sorting by position, size, state.

For example, let’s say a college coach is looking for a prospect who can run. So begin by setting the 60 range from 6.4-6.8. Now let’s say the coach is looking for a middle infielder in a specific class, so click shortstop. One step further, he wants a left-handed hitter. Click it. Now let’s say the college coach doesn’t have much luck in, say, Missouri, but kills it in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Click the desired states.

Hit search.

Voila, you have your left-handed hitting shortstop who can fly. It’s that easy.

Enough reading about it.
