As I look out my study window at snow-covered DuPage County, it’s hard to believe that the first day of the 2014 Illinois High School baseball season has arrived. Looking out at a foot of snow on the ground and sub-zero temps this morning, the thousands of players throughout the Land of Lincoln will be indoors for their season-opening practice sessions for quite awhile.

Even so, the 10th season of the Prep Baseball Report’s extensive coverage of Illinois baseball commences today in gymnasiums and field houses throughout the state. Mount Carmel, Joliet Catholic Academy, Lisle and Waterloo Gibault will begin defense of their 2013 State championships with games beginning in two weeks, Monday March 17. Weather permitting, of course.

We at the PBR will once again provide you with the most comprehensive coverage of high school baseball throughout the state. Executive Director Sean Duncan, Scouting Director Steve Nielson, and Yours Truly will be covering hundreds of games throughout the state.

I will once again be providing the monster Daily Roundups on all of the daily action throughout the state. The top teams, top players and outstanding coaches will be featured. The 2014 Prep Baseball Report Illinois High School Baseball Schedules will be posted daily. 47 conferences and 288 schools will be featured.

Once again, with our partnership with www.highschoolcube.com, I will behind the mike for many of the huge match-ups throughout the state this spring! We’re looking at the March 24th contest between the Lemont Indians and the Sandburg Eagles in Orland Park, for our 2014 Season Opener on The Cube.

Ten years! Time flies when you’re having fun and we certainly have had a blast here at the PBR, providing all our loyal viewers with the best baseball coverage in the nation.
