West Virginia Fall Review Event Analysis: Catchers

The West Virginia Fall Review took place on November 17th at Pro Performance RX giving our staff a final look this fall at some of the top prospects in West Virginia. Today we continue a series of articles analyzing the prospects in attendance with a look at those players that participated as catchers.

Isaac BittingerIsaac Bittinger, Northern Garrett HS, C, 2021
6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a open stance and initiates his swing with a timed leg lift and stride. Displayed the ability to create some backspin with the potential for future power. Barrel control is affected at times with some lower half glide. Registered a bat exit velocity of 84 mph and ran a personal best 6.81 60-yard dash. Showcased advanced defensive abilities behind the plate with pop times of 1.88 - 1.97 on throws of 77 mph out of the crouch. Currently ranked 40th in the 2021 Maryland class, Bittinger has turned himself into a high-follow prospect.

Jacob KiddJacob Kidd, Hurricane HS, C, 2021
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open, athletic stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. The right-handed hitter showcased a slight uppercut swing with strength in his lower half and the ability to create backspin. His ability to use his lower half creates the potential to hit for power as he continues to develop. Registered a bat exit velocity of 81 mph and ran an 7.13 60-yard dash.  Showcased pop times of 2.08-2.17 on throws of 74 mph from the crouch. Kidd continues to get better every time we see him.

Noah Farrar, Cabell Midland HS, C, 2021Noah Farrar
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a feel for the barrel while routinely staying behind the baseball and using the middle of the field well. Registered an 82 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.53 60-yard dash, both personal bests for Farrar. He flashed pop times of 2.24 -2.31 on throws of 74 mph from the crouch with quick feet and a solid arm. Farrar continues to improve his personal numbers each time that we see him.

Ethyn BarnitzEthyn Barnitz, Wahama HS, C, 2022
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and incorporates a toe-tap stride to begin. Displayed advanced feel for the barrel and an ability to stay behind the baseball during a very good round of batting practice. Registered an 88 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Flashed pop times of 2.06-2.14 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch and displayed a soft glove hand defensively.
