KENOSHA, WI – For a while the Kenosha Sectional didn’t look like it would be played but if it wasn’t for the turf at Carthage College the rains would have wiped this one out long before it started. With a steady downpour throughout the contest the Wilmot bats came alive late winning 17-7 in six innings.

The Indian Trail Hawks erupted for a six run rally in the fourth to take a 7-4 lead. Wilmot wasted no time getting the lead back with a four run inning of their own in the fourth and then exploding for nine runs in the sixth capping off the 10-run win in six innings.

Colin Barry and Evan Ketterhagen each had two hits in the contest while Kyle Nixon led the way with three RBI.

The Hawk pitching ran out of steam in the championship walking 10 batters while also committing five errors, clearly not Indian Trail’s best effort. Wilmot put pressure on the Hawks all game threatening in nearly every inning.

Wilmot will take on Middleton in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday, June 17 at 1:00 pm.
