Cary-Grove's Vilardo earns Porsche Exchange Player of the Week honors

Cary-Grove senior shortstop Michael Vilardo put together an entire season in a week?s time. The 6-foot, 175-pound Richmond University recruit enjoyed one of the most amazing stretches of games we have seen in the three years we?ve been giving out Porsche Exchange Player of the Week honors.

All Vilardo did last week was hit six home runs, drive in 17 runs, tally 11 hits and score 12 runs. Last Saturday alone in a doubleheader against McHenry, Vilardo hit three homers and drove in 11 runs, including nine in one game. Vilardo also finished with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored against Grayslake North on Friday.

Vilardo continued his torrid streak this week, hitting two more this Monday against Crystal Lake Central. For the season, For the season, Vilardo is batting .403 with a .931 slugging percentage. To go along with his nine home runs, he has three doubles, a triple and 36 RBI. He is also 16-for-16 in stolen bases.
