Written by Ethan Silverman

""No. 12 Cape Notre Dame junior RHP Cody Heisserer (right)  silenced the powerful No. 19 Kennet offense Friday afternoon en route to a 4-0 victory. Heisserer used good control of his 83-85 mph fastball keeping the ball down and using both sides of the plate. Heisserer threw a complete game, striking out eight Kennet batters, who had been averaging 11 runs per game this season.

"I thought I did pretty good today, kept the ball down in the strike zone. I left a few balls up an dhad a few wild pitches, bt my defense was there to pick me up. It was a good win," said Heisserer.

Offensively, the big hit was a three run home run off the bat of Nate Buessink in the bottom of the second inning. Heisserer helped build the lead to 4-0 with a solo shot in the fourth inning.

"Cody was phenominal today, just a tremendous job all around. I am very proud of the kid," said Coach Graviett on the performance of Heisserer.  As for the victory, Coach Graviett thought, "These players all had a lot to prove today, and keep the program tradition alive."
