Indiana Wesleyan Showcase Results



 1.    Brett Carlson, SS, Riley HS- Carlson has recently committed to Austin Peay, but has yet to sign. Carlson is a 6-foot-1 inch, 190 pound shortstop. He ran a 6.87 60, and put together two impressive rounds of BP at a recent PBR event. He shows athleticism in his swing that should produce power at the next level, and also shows the potential to hit for a high average. Defensively Carlson shows above average range and quick hands. 

 

2.    Kyle Norris, C, Decatur Central HS- Norris is a 5-foot-8 inch, 165 pound catcher. Don?t let his frame fool you, as he is athletic and demonstrates that with a 6.82 60, and a pop time of 1.94. Offensively, he shows a clean approach with a quick, compact swing that produces a lot of line drives and ability to hit for high average.  As a junior he hit .466 for Decatur Central. Norris is easily one of the top catchers still available in the state of Indiana.

 

3.    Craig Bell, RHP, North Central HS (Farmersburg) - Bell is a 6-foot-3 inch, 205"" pound right handed pitcher. At a recent PBR event he sat between 84-87 mph and hit 88 a couple of times. He is a good sized kid with a smooth delivery. Bell?s breaking ball shows good bite at 74-75, and his changeup is consistently 76-77 mph. He shows good knowledge of how to pitch and his actions lead you to believe he could easily touch 90 mph by the end of the season.

 

4.    Connor Wilkins, C/P, Concordia Lutheran HS- Wilkins is a 6-foot-3 inch, 205 pound catcher. He has a big and projectable wide body. There is a tremendous amount of upside in this prospect both behind the plate and on the mound. Offensively, he displays a wide stance with good power.  Behind the plate he is still a little raw, but does show some arm strength and quickness. With work and cleaning up his footwork he should easily show a pop time under 2.0.

 

5.    ""Ronnie Bettcher, RHP, Laville HS- Bettcher is a 6-foot-3 inch, 210 pound right handed pitcher. He sits at 85-86 mph and demonstrates high pitch ability. He throws four pitches for a strike that includes a 76 mph changeup, 71 mph curveball, and a 76 mph slider that has the potential to be a plus pitch.

 

6.    Andrew Wellwerts, RHP/IF, Hanover Central HS- Wellwerts is a 6-foot, 175 pound right handed pitcher/ infielder. He is more projectable on the mound than in the infield with his long frame. Wellwerts displays some athleticism in his delivery and is consistently 83-84 mph, touching 85 at times. He throws four pitches for a strike with a fluid delivery. At the plate, Wellwerts is a line drive hitter with a good swing plane.  When he gets to extension he shows the potential for power.

 

7.    Aaron Christenberry, 1B, Warsaw HS- Christenberry is a 6-foot, 185 pound left handed hitting first baseman.  Defensively, he works well around the bag and picks the ball well. He has a quick release and soft hands.  At the plate, he displays an athletic swing with good bat speed. He does show some power potential to right field. Christenberry?s swing is short and compact, and should produce a good average at the next level.

 

8.    Nick Lorenc, RHP, Kokomo HS- Lorenc is a 5-foot-10 inch, 155-pound RHP and shows the ability to throw three pitches for a strike. He demonstrates a quick arm with good extension and run on his 80 mph fastball. While not a plus pitch, he does show a feel for his curveball that has a sharp break. He will also throw a late fading 75 mph changeup.

 

9.    Tyler Robbins, OF, Lafayette Jefferson HS- Robbins is an athletic 5-foot-10 inch, 175 pound outfielder. He possesses strong accurate arm from the outfield at 85 mph. His actions in the outfield are fluid.  Offensively, Robbins shows a good swing and the ability to hit for a high average. 

 

10. Adam Book, OF/P, Northrop HS- Book is a 5-foot-10 inch, 155 pound prospect. He shows the ability and talent to play almost anywhere on the field. He runs a 6.91 sixty, and is 83 from the outfield and 81 across the diamond. He demonstrates great range at shortstop with a quick release. At the plate, he shows good bat speed with a slightly open stance. On the mound, he has an athletic delivery that produces an 82 mph fastball, along with a breaking ball and changeup both at 70-71 mp . Book is very versatile and looks to be one of the better dual players remaining in the class of 2011.
