Kravetz earns Porsche Exchange Player of the Week honors

In two starts last week, Mount Carmel ace John Kravetz allowed a combined one hit with 17 strikeouts against two quality opponents. The University of Illinois recruit?s dominant week included a no-hitter in the Class 4A regional finals against St. Ignatius to advance the No. 5 Caravan into sectional play.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-hander?s no hitter featured eight strikeouts in Mount Carmel?s 3-1 victory over regional host St. Ignatius on Saturday. On the previous Saturday, Kravetz fired a one-hitter in six innings work to defeat perennial power New Trier, 3-1. Kravetz struck out nine Trevians in the game.

Kravetz, who features an upper-80s fastball and a hard-biting slider, is 10-3 this season as the Caravan look to make a run to the Class 4A state semifinals. On a side note, Kravetz?s younger brother, sophomore left-hander Jeremy, earned the Class 4A regional semifinal victory, throwing four shutout innings, the game before John threw a no-hitter.

The Porsche Exchange salutes John Kravetz for his hard work and success.
