In Catholic League crossovers
No. 1 Providence (10-0; 1-0 Blue) blanked Bishop McNamara 12-0 in six innings behind a two-homer, seven RBI day for University of Indiana-bound 3B Sam Travis.

No. 6 Mount Carmel (11-1; 1-0 Blue) defeated Fenwick 7-3 behind University of Illinois-bound  RHP John Kravetz, who improved to 4-0 on the mound. University of Indiana-bound CF Chris Sujka homered and had three hits to lead the Caravan attack.

No. 13 St.Laurence (10-2; 1-0 Blue) rolled past St. Ignatius 6-2 behind senior C Charlie Naso and 3B Mike Chimera. Naso and Chimera both had two hits and two runs driven in for the Vikings.

In Du Page Valley Conference opening action:
Defending DVC champs Naperville Central (6-4; 1-0) defeated West Aurora 6-4. Redhawk junior Ian Lewandowski picked up the win on the mound and senior Jake DeVoy drove in two Redhawk runs...West Aurora (3-4; 0-1) was led by Omar Fernandez who had three hits and drove in all four Blackhawk runs...

Wheaton North (5-2; 1-0) defeated West Chicago 5-3 behind senior RHP Eric Sandora. Sandora struck out eight and improved to 3-0 on the mound for the Falcons. Senior Reece Butler drove in a pair of Falcon runs.

Glenbard North (7-3; 1-0) romped past Naperville North 13-4. Panther 6-foot-4 senior Andy Bergmann improved to 4-0 with a solid six-inning performance and junior Ryan Gallagher had three hits and plated five Panther runs.

In the Interstate 8 North
Sandwich (3-5; 1-1) defeated Westmont 4-2 behind Indian Jake Roehn, who had nine strikeouts in his I-8 North win on the mound.

Lisle (10-3; 1-0) won at Coal City 6-4 behind sophomore Ryan Van Volkenburg, who improved to 4-0 on the mound with a solid 5 ? inning performance against the Coalers. Juniors Kazim Kahn and Nick Olson had two hits each for the Lions.

Plano (6-6; 1-0) hammered Seneca 14-0 behind a two-hit, 10 strikeout performance from Reaper senior captain Alex Ramirez. Senior DH Ivan Corral provided the Reaper offense with a perfect 5-for-5 day with two homers and six RBI...

In Jackie Robinson South action:
No. 9 Simeon (10-1; 3-0) defeated Curie 10-0 in five inings behind a Wolverine onslaught of long balls. Sophomore 2B Marshawn Taylor, junior Shane Brown and junior C Blake Hickman went deep for the Wolverines. Taylor finished the day with three RBI and sophomore Robert Fletcher drove in a Wolverine run with a double. Malik Simmons (1-0) fired a two-hitter at the Condors.

In the Mid-Illini:
Pekin (8-4; 3-0) stayed atop the Mid-Illini standings with East Peoria by blanking Morton 6-0 behind Dragon hurler Ryan Vansaghi. Vansaghi fired a six-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts for the red-hot Dragons.

East Peoria (7-4; 3-0) blasted Metamora 13-7 behind Tanner Schofield, who had three hits and two RBI for the Warriors.

Washington (7-3; 1-2) slipped past Dunlap 2-1 behind clutch RBI singles from juniors, Isaac Fisher and C Zach Little, who drove in the game-winner.

Bartonville Limestone (6-8; 1-2) blanked Canton 8-0 behind Rocket senior T.R. Dunne. Dunne fired a two-hit shutout and struck out 13. Rocket junior 3B Logan Johnson had a perfect 3-for-3 game.

In the mighty Mississippi Valley opener
No. 17 Waterloo  (12-0; 1-0) blanked Civic Memorial 7-0 behind a two-hit shutout by senior A.J. Crutchfield (3-0). Bulldog senior Nick Steppig had a perfect 3-for-3 day with an RBI.

In Northern Ilinois Big 12-East:
DeKalb (9-4; 1-0) blanked Sycamore 6-0 behind behind senior LHP. Cody Varga, who fired a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts for the Barbs. Sycamore (8-1; 0-1) falls for the first time in 2011.

Morris  defeated Yorkville 7-3. Yorkville  falls to 8-3 and 0-1...

In the South Suburban Blue:
Bremen (11-4; 3-0) rolled past TF North 5-1 behind Brave junior RHP Vince Janotta (2-1), who struck out seven in his complete-game victory. Janotta?s battery-mate senior C Vince Miller went deep for the Braves.

TF South (5-4;3-0) kept pace with Bremen atop the SSC-Blue standings with a 17-0 thumping of Hillcrest. Rebel Cody Krilich homered and drove in three Rebel runs.

Oak Forest (5-3; 3-1) defeated Tinley Park (10-3; 1-3) behind two-hits and two RBI from junior CF Cody Murray.

In South Suburban Red action:
Richards (7-4; 2-1) defeated Eisenhower 6-5 behind a two-run double by Bulldog Joe Lyon.

In the Suburban Christian Blue:
Chicago Christian (12-3; 3-1) rolled past defending SCC-Blue defending champs Marmion 6-3 behind Knight junior CF John Lemmenes, whose bases-clearing double led the Knights past Marmion (7-4; 3-1).

St. Francis (11-3; 3-1) blitzed Marian Central Catholic 8-2 behind Spartan senior Butler University-bound Eric Stout (3-1), who struck out 11 and fired a six-hitter at the Hurricanes. K.C. Zimmerman and Jack Roback each had two hits and combined for five Spartan RBI.

In the Suburban Christian Gold
Aurora Christian (10-2; 4-1) defeated Aurora Central Catholic 4-1. Eagle junior Mitch Holtz (3-2) fired a five hitter with eight Ks. Junior Josh Haugen went deep for the Eagles and scored a pair of runs.

Wheaton Academy (7-3; 3-1) defeated Guerin Prep 3-1 behind junior Trevor Swaney, who fired a three-hitter while fanning 10. At the plate, Swaney chipped in with a pair of hits and sophomore Jake Cousins plated two Warrior runs.

In Upstate 8 Crossover action:
Geneva (5-1; 3-0 River) defeated South Elgin 13-5 behind Viking Matt Williams, who had three hits, including a home run to defeat South Elgin (6-2; 1-2 Valley)...

St. Charles North (7-2; 3-0 River) defeated Bartlett 7-5. Senior RHP John Munyon (2-0) picked up the win on the mound and North Star junior SS John Brodner had two hits and three RBI to lead SCN past Bartlett (3-8; 0-3 Valley)...

Lake Park (6-5; 2-1 Valley) smashed Elgin Larkin 11-1 in five innings. Lancer Kevin Steger (1-2) picked up the win on the mound and his batery-mate sophomore C Tom Spear had two hits and two RBI for the Lancers. Elgin Larkin (6-4; 1-2 River) starting pitcher Miguel Vilafane falls to 2-1.

West Suburban Gold:
Leyden (8-0; 5-0) slipped past Addison Trail 5-3 to stay atop the WSC-Gold standings. Eagle Carlos Olivarria plated the game-winner for Leyden. Eagle John Marino added a home run for Leyden.

In nonconference action on Monday:

No. 5 Nazareth Academy (12-1) blasted Elmwod Park 10-0 in five innings behind 6-foot-4 junior LHP Dominnic Purpura (4-0). Purpura fired a one-hitter and struck out 10. Lewis University-bound Kane Lombardo led the Roadrunner attack with two hits and four RBI. Fello future Lewis Flyer SS Michael Barajas, added two hits and two ribbies. Roadrunner senior C Conor Salvino tripled home a ?Runner run.

No. 16 Stevenson (6-2) lost again, this time 6-3 to Hersey. Coastal Caroina-bound Joe Perricone homered for Hersey.

No. 18 Marian Catholic (10-2) defeated Illiana Christian 3-1 behind RBIs from juniors 1B Brett Lilek and LF Jacob Lorenz and senior CF Richie Cervantes.

No. 24 Prospect (8-2) had a defensive melt-down in the seventh and blew a 3-0 lead in falling to Warren 6-3.

Glenbrook North (10-1) defeated Hoffman Estates 4-1 behind senior Jason Pomeroy. Pomeroy allowed one run in his six innings of work to improve to 3-0 on the season. Senior Sean Thomas provided the Spartan offense with two hits and three RBI.

Westminster Christian (6-5), behind Warrior juniors RHP/LHP Ryan Perez and RHP Kevin Elder, who combined to no-hit Marengo 2-0. Perez (3-1) struck out eight in his four innings of work and Elder mopped up with seven Ks in the last three innings of the combined masterpiece.

Joliet Catholic Academy (6-4) bounced back from its loss to No. 13 St. Laurence on Sunday and blanked Minooka 2-0 in nine innings. Hilltopper senior RHP Kevin Cunningham did it all for JCA. His two-run double in the ninth provided JCA with the winning margin and he threw eight shut out innings to improve to 2-0 on the mound. JCA?s  junior closer Nate Searing nailed down another save with a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts. Minooka falls to 8-4.

Lincoln-Way West (8-1) defeated Bolingbrook 5-1, in a Southwest Suburban crossover on Monday. Warrior Cody Vogler improved to 2-0 on the season with a complete-game, five-strikeout performance. The run Vogler gave up was unearned. Warrior Mike Lager homered and had two hits and two RBI.

Lake Forest (5-5) defeated Highland Park 9-6 behind the hitting of Chris Godinez and junior Matthew Lawrence. Godinez had a day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Lawrence went 3-for-4 as well, with one  RBI and three stolen bases. Seniors Brett Baruch and Jack Wold also added a few RBI late to take down Highland Park (6-5). Senior left-hander John Muscarello threw five and allowed three runs to get the win for the Scouts.

Highland Park?s bats came alive late when down 9-3 in the 7th to cut the deficit in half to 9-6. The rally was cut short though, when senior infielder Godinez, a Bradley commit, came in to get the last out on a fastball that sat at 84 mph.

For the Giants, Jason Goldstein had a good day at the plate going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Chase Cunniff received the loss for Highland Park on the mound.
