The Latest Recruiting News from around Ohio



Xavier Turner, the #3 rated prospect from Sandusky High School, has officially reopened his recruiting process. Turner, who originally committed to Ohio State and still maintains strong interest in Ohio State, plans on taking several official visits this fall. Potential programs include Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.

Casey Schroeder, the #6 ranked prospect from Ottawa Glandorf, has committed to the University of Kentucky. Schroeder, who originally committed to Tennessee, reopened his recruiting process this summer after Tennessee’s coaching change. The switch-hitting catcher has established himself as the top player at his position in the Midwest.

Adam Schaly, the #15 ranked prospect from Ashland High School has committed to Stetson University in Florida. Schaly is a crafty left that sits 85-86 mph with his fastball and 72-75 mph with his curveball.

Jacob Golloway, the #32 ranked prospect from Harrison, has committed to Wright State. Golloway, who blasted onto the recruiting scene in the middle of July, is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound power-hitting corner outfielder.

Cale Giddings, the #45 ranked prospect from Pickerington North, has committed to the University  of Akron. Giddings, who is a 6-foot-2,  200-pound power hitting first baseman became Coach Rem’s third commitment for his 2012 recruiting class.

Michael Steensen, a right-handed pitcher from Granville, has committed to the University of Akron. Steensen, who is 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, is a crafty righty who relies on a mid 80’s fastball and an arsenal of off-speed pitches including a 70-71 mph curveball, 75-76 mph slider, and a 73-74 mph changeup.
