Class 4A Sectionals
(In bracket order)

Barrington
Mid-Suburban League champion Prospect (24-8) defeated St. Viator 5-3. Porsche Player of the Week junior RHP Jack Landwehr (11-2) fired a six-hitter at the Lions. 6-foot-2, 195-pound senior Peter Bonahoom went deep with a Knight on board and junior Brad Gerdes added a solo shot. The Knights will meet Warren (22-12) for the sectional championship at 11 on Saturday morning.

Glenbrook South
No. 5 Glenbrook North (32-3) blanked Loyola 3-0 behind a no-hitter from Spartan junior Peter Resnick. The 6-foot-3, 185 pound right-hander struck out 10 Ramblers in his first start of the season.

Red-hot Spartan senior Brett Synek and junior Chad Bruce singled home the first two Spartan tallies of the game in the third inning. Senior Jack Day added an RBI double in the sixth to make it 3-0.

Glenbrook North will meet West Suburban Gold champ No. 17 Leyden (28-5) for the sectional title at 10 on Saturday.

Neuqua Valley
No. 1 Providence (34-3) defeated sectional hosts Neuqua Valley 5-2 behind a complete-game masterpiece by Northwestern-bound RHP Brandon Magallones (6-2). Magallones gave up two runs in the top of the first but then shutout the Wildcats the rest of the way. The future Northwestern Wildcat RHP struck out 11.

Notre Dame University-bound 2B Kevin DeFilippis drove home a pair of Celtic runs. Indiana University-bound 3B Sam Travis plated the first Celtic run of the game, his 65th RBI of the season. Celtic Dom Olszta?s infield single drove home another Celtic tally.

The top-ranked Celtics will meet the surging Mustangs of Downers Grove South (25-13) at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning for the sectional championship. The PBR?s Drake Skleba will be in Naperville for all the sectional final action.

Illinois Wesleyan University
No. 13 Normal West (31-7) blanked No. 11 Moline (31-5) behind super-soph RHP Matt James. (See Sean Duncan?s story)

Mt. Carmel
No. 6 Mt. Carmel (30-7) slammed Jackie Robinson North champ Clemente 12-2 in five innings. The Caravan used the long ball to end Clemente?s fine season. Junior 1B Sam Kint had a two-run bomb, junior Tyler Laurisch hit a solo shot and sophomore C Tom Hayes hit a monster three?run bomb for the Caravan. Laurisch (8-2) went the distance for Mount Carmel, which will host Oak Park (29-9) in the sectional title game at 11 on Saturday morning.

Sandburg
Lincoln-Way East shocked No. 9 Lincoln-Way North 3-0. (See Drake Skleba?s story).

DeKalb
No. 21 Cary-Grove (27-9) hammered Fox Valley Conference rival Dundee-Crown 14-7. The Trojans will meet No. 23 Streamwood (29-6) for the sectional final at 11 on Saturday.

St. Charles North
Cinderella is alive and well. West Suburban Conference Silver member, Glenbard West (19-18), stunned St. Charles East and its Kansas-bound LHP Wes Benjamin, 5-1, to advance to Saturday?s 11 a.m. sectional championship game against West Suburban Silver champ No. 2 Lyons Township (33-4).

Glenbard West ace senior RHP Ben Krusen (9-1) allowed one unearned run in outdueling the future Jayhawk hurler Benjamin. In the third Krusen helped himself with a clutch two-run single off of Benjamin.

Jones
Host Jones Prep slipped past Chicago U-High 6-5. Jones Prep will meet Kenwood (10-17) for t e sectional title at 11 on Saturday morning.

Lincoln-Way West
Joliet Catholic Academy (23-9) will meet No. 22 Oak Forest (24-7) at 10 on Saturday at 10 for the sectional championship.

Nazareth Academy
Riverside-Brookfield slipped past St. Joseph on Bulldog senior SS Vito DeRango?s game-winning homer. Bulldog senior RHP JT Evans picked up the win on the mound. The Bulldogs will meet sectional hosts No. 10 Nazareth Academy (32-5) at 10.

Grayslake Central
Richmond Burton (23-8) blanked Vernon Hills behind a no-hitter from the Rockets junior ace TJ Trapino (9-2).Trapino had 10 strikeouts and six walks in the game Rocket sophomore Ryan Blanton had two hits and two RBI to lead the Rocket attack.

The Rockets advance to Saturday?s 11 a.m. sectional championship game with Wheaton St. Francis (24-12).

Galesburg
Peoria Notre Dame (26-6) and Washington (24-8) advanced to the Galesburg Sectional Championship Game on Saturday at 11.

Rochelle
Marmion (21-8) slipped past sectional host Rochelle behind senior ace Tim Tarter (10-0). Marmion will meet Kaneland (24-10) at 11 on Saturday for the sectional championship.

Centralia
No. 12 Waterloo (30-3) and Mt. Vernon (28-8) will meet Saturday at 1 for the sectional championship.

Lincoln
Defending Class 3A champs Chatham Glenwood (27-10) will meet the winner of Friday?s semifinal between Lincoln and Bloomington, Saturday at 10.
