Lawrence Central got the scoring started early with Glenn Jones getting hit by a pitch, stole second and third and was driven in by a Christian Montgomery ground out. With an early 1-0 lead, Roncalli threatened in the bottom of the first after Hawk led off with a line drive up the middle and was eventually stranded at third. Montgomery got the start for the Bears and pitched 88-93 touching 94. He struggled with command and eventually went 4 innings striking out 5, two hits, and one run.

 

Alex Simpson (Northern KY) got the start for Roncalli and struggled with command. When he was in the zone he was good. He struck out five in five plus innings. He kept the game at 1-0 until Chris Ferguson (unsigned senior) delivered with a three run homerun to left center. That was all the run support the Bears would need as they cruised to a 7-1 win.
