 In the Southwestern Conference: O’Fallon (14-8; 8-1) and No. 13 Granite City (18-4; 7-2) kept pace with quality wins on Tuesday. O’Fallon, behind a complete game from senior RHP Miles Quintal, blasted Belleville West 7-2. Quintal scattered nine hits and struck out nine in outdueling Belleville West’s ace senior LHP Sean Hulse (5-4).

 

O’Fallon junior Casey Truitt blasted his first home run of the year. Juniors Cody Spanberger and Rob Bohnenstiehl each had two hits and two RBI to lead the Panthers.

 

Belleville West (13-7; 6-4) was led by their junior 3B Kane Sweeney, who was 2-for-2 with a double for the Maroons.

 

No. 13 Granite City defeated Edwardsville 4-2 behind a complete game six-hitter by senior RHP Cody Daily and the big bat of University of Louisville-bound C Jake Depew. Daily improved to 5-2 for the Warriors on the mound and DePew hammered his fifth home run among his three hits and drove in a pair for the Warriors.

 

Belleville East (17-5; 7-3) stayed in the SWC hunt with a 5-2 win over Collinsville. Lancer senior RHP ace Kenny May improved to 6-2 with a solid six-inning performance. Junior Vinnie Burke drove home a pair of Lancer runs and senior Matt Weaver chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI.

 

Illinois Valley Central (22-4; 9-0) hammered five home runs and crushed Rock Falls 16-1 in five innings to wrap up another NCIC-Lincoln Division championship for the Grey Ghosts. Junior Dan Semtner went deep twice for the Ghosts and drove in five runs. Seniors C Derek Sprout (Bradley), Drasen Johnson (Illinois) and winning pitcher Cody Kentzel all homered for the Ghosts. IVC hit six home runs on Monday in an 11-1 romp over second place Princeton (22-4; 7-2).

 

Kentzel (6-1) allowed four hits and struck out 12 in his five inning masterpiece. Rock Falls drops to 18-6 overall and 6-3 in the NCIC-Lincoln.

 

In the Central State 8: No.8 Chatham Glenwood (16-3; 9-0) dispatched Jacksonville 20-8 in five innings. Senior RHP Bryce Sablotny (5-1) picked up the win for the Titans.

 

Titan senior 3B Jake Ingold hammered a grand slam; EIU-bound catcher Jacob Reese had a 4-for-4 day and plated three Titan runs and junior Phil Maton drove in five.

 

In the North Suburban Lake: No.7 Warren (23-3; 6-1) romped past Lake Zurich 11-1 in five innings behind senior LHP Zach Schneider (6-1), who gave up one hit, a home run to LZ’s Dan Johnson, in the fifth. Blue Devil super-soph SS Patrick Kenney was 4-for-4 with two RBI and junior 3B Kevin Colburn went deep for the Blue Devils…

 

Libertyville (14-9; 6-3) stayed in contention routing Mundelein 13-5 on Tuesday. Senior catcher Chad Uhler hammered a three-run bomb in the seven run Wildcat seventh. Mundelein falls to 17-6 overall and 4-5 in the NSC Lake.

 

In the North Suburban Prairie: NSC-Prairie leader Grant (10-11; 6-1) defeated Antioch 10-5 behind senior SS Tom Grier who hammered a two-run blast  as the Bulldogs stayed a game up on defending NSC-Prairie champs Lakes (15-9;5-2) who blasted North Chicago 14-0 in five innings .

 

In the Upstate 8: St. Charles East fell behind No.19 St. Charles North 3-0 after a half  inning of play and then exploded for eight runs in the bottom half of the first and rolled to a 10-7 victory on Tuesday. St. Charles East (16-7; 10-4) senior catcher Evan Prose launched a grand slam homer to highlight the eight-run first inning Prose would finish with a pair of hits and five RBI to lead the Saints.

 

St. Charles East senior CF/RHP Robert Wendt added three doubles and drove home a pair of runs. Junior SS Luke Rojas chipped in with a pair of hits and RBI for the Saints. Wendt fired 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the save for winning pitcher senior Tommy Conrad.

 

St. Charles North (19-4; 11-3) was led by Central Michigan-bound catcher Matt Stevens, who had two hits and an RBI. University of Nebraska-bound North Star SS Ryan Richardson drove home a pair of runs for the North Stars…

 

Lake Park (15-7; 9-5) stayed in the Upstate 8 race and slowed down South Elgin with a 6-5 win on Tuesday. Lancer senior Marc Ostrowski had a clutch two-run single for the game winner. South Elgin falls to 15-5 overall and 10-4 in U8C…

 

In the Suburban Christian Gold: Immaculate Conception (22-9; 11-3) clinched a tie for the Gold championship behind the second no-hitter for Knight junior RHP Jose Godinez (3-3). Godinez fanned an even dozen in leading the Knights to a 7-1 win over Aurora Central…Aurora Christian (16-10;9-5) stayed alive with a 6-5 win over Wheaton Academy.

 

In the West Suburban Gold, No.6 Downers Grove South (21-5; 11-1) completed its sweep of Morton behind junior RHP Matt Wivinis, who fired a complete game gem at the Morton Mustangs, striking out eight and improving to 3-1 on the season. Senior SS Dan Walsh and junior Kyle Engle each tripled home a run for DGS…

 

Willowbrook (18-7; 9-3) stayed in the Gold race completing their sweep of Leyden 6-5 in eight innings. Senior Brad Collins singled home the game-winner for the Warriors in the bottom of the eighth. Senior Jose Castro (3-1) fired three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win and St.Joseph’s College-bound Brett Buchanan added three hits and an RBI contributing to the eighth consecutive win for the red-hot Warriors.

 

Lockport (17-7; 5-1) rallied past Bolingbrook 4-3 to pull into a first place tie with No. 18 Lincoln Way Central (18-5; 5-1) in the SWC-Blue. The two SWC leaders meet in New Lenox on Thursday. Porter sophomore Billy Reed singled home the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh…Homewood-Flossmoor stunned Lincoln-Way East 10-4.

 

In the Southwest Suburban Blue, defending champ Sandburg (15-8; 6-2) rolled past Joliet 13-7 to stay in the hunt. The Eagles were led at the plate by juniors Nick DeWolf and Mike Malfeo, who both had three-hit, three RBI days to lead the Eagles attack. Senior Matt Mangold added a homer and four RBI to help senior RHP Joe Greenfield improve to 4-1 on the season.

 

In the Southwest Suburban Red: Co-leaders Andrew (16-7; 6-2) and Stagg (14-10;6-2) both were victorious on Tuesday. Andrew blanked Bradley-Bourbonnais 12-0 behind a complete game shutout from the T-Bolts Lewis University-bound RHP Tom Durkin  fanned 12 in improving to 3-3 on the season…Stagg beat Thornton 12-2 in five innings.

 

In the South Suburban: In a battle of division leaders Oak Forest (16-6; 12-2) hammered Red Division leader Shepard 10-5. Bengal junior Tim Barry launched a three-run homer, his 11th of the season, as the Bengals stayed a game up on Lemont in the SSC-Blue race. Shepard falls to 14-9 and 11-2 in the Red.

 

Lemont (15-8; 10-2) blasted Bremen 16-8 as Indian senior Josh Ferry hammered a grand slam and drove in five for Lemont. Senior catcher Pat Driscoll also homered and drove in three and senior second baseman Mike Dvorak had perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. Junior RHP Jeremy Santiago (4-1) picked up the win for the Indians.

 

Richards (19-8; 11-2) moved into a tie for the SSC-Red lead with an 11-1 pasting of Evergreen Park. Bulldog RHP Carlos Rodriguez improved to 6-1 on the mound Senior 3B Benjamin Dafgard continues his torrid hitting with three hits and five Bulldog RBI.

 

Waubonsie Valley, behind senior LHP Kris Singh (3-4), blasted No.13 Naperville North 14-0 in five innings in a nonconference affair on Tuesday. Singh fired a one-hitter at the Huskies and struck out 4.Valparaiso-bound 3B Sam Carius was a single shy of the cycle and plated two Warrior runs. Senior Sean Smith hammered a three-run homer and junior Connor Readnor hit a two-run bomb for the Warriors.

 

Merrillville Indiana’s Andrean Catholic (12-4) routed No.3 Naperville Central 12-3 in Naperville. The defending Class 3A champs of Indiana caught Naperville Central (20-4;11-1) at an appropriate time, having just concluding a huge three-game series with arch-rival Naperville North (19-4; 9-3) and the day before an equally important series with Wheaton North (20-4;10-2), today. Senior Redhawks Marc Mantucca and Bobby Czarnowski went deep for the ‘Hawks.
