Class 1A Supersectionals

University of Illinois

Tremont (21-8) rallied past Macon-Meridian 6-5 on a walk-off two-run triple by Turk senior CF Tyler Risinger. With the win the Turks will advance to the Class 1A Semifinals at O?Brien Field in Peoria. The Turks will meet Carrollton (29-1) at 10 a.m. on Friday. Carrollton blasted Hartsburg Emden 10-0 in five innings in the Lincoln Land Community College Supersectional on Tuesday (See Drake Skleba?s story)

 

Benedictine University

Lanark-Eastland defeated Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell 5-4. The Cougars will meet Class 1A defending runner-up Goreville (22-14) in the second semifinal at O?Brien Field in Peoria. The Black Kats won the Class 1A Marion Supersectional, 5-0, over Woodlawn on Saturday.

 

Class 4A Regional Championships

New Trier (24-9) ripped Niles West 13-3 in six innings behind junior LHP Nick Hedge (8-0). The 6-foot-2, 205-pound left-hander went the distance, allowing two earned runs. Hedge?s fastball topped at 86 mph, sitting at 82-84.

 

The Trevians (24-9) had 14 hits and were led early on by senior third baseman Eric West, who hit a three-run homer in the first inning. All nine New Trier starters had at least one hit. Niles West bows out at 21-11. New Trier will meet No. 17 Leyden (27-5) in the Class 4A Glenbrook South Sectional Semifinal at 4:30 in Glenview.
