S. Illinois River-River Ohio

No.25 Harrisburg (11-3; 5-0) crushed West Frankfort 18-2 in five innings. Junior Tyler McGowan and senior Nick Borders each drove home three Bulldog runs John A. Logan recruit RHP Keelin Rasch (4-1) fired a three-hitter to pick up the win for the ?Dogs.

 

Murphysboro (9-7; 4-2) blanked Herrin 4-0 behind a four-hit masterpiece from Red Devil 6-foot-3 LHP Dylan Craig (5-1). The future Illinois State University Redbird struck out 13 Tiger hitters and now has 71 Ks in the 33 innings.

 

S. Illinois River-River Mississippi

Pinckneyville (13-3; 4-1) outslugged Du Quoin 17-9 behind Panther junior SS Bryant Shute. Shute had three hits, including a double and plated three Panther runs, as the SIRR-Mississippi leaders continue to roll. Sophomore 3B Joey Burris and junior RF Justin Bumann each had two hits and four RBI. Panther junior hurler Hunter Queen (2-0) picked up the win in the mound.

 

South Seven

No. 24 Mt. Vernon (13-3; 4-0) erupted for four runs in the bottom of the sixth as the Rams downed Centralia 4-1. Ram senior Blake Deaton tripled home a pair in the big sixth. Sophomore Colton Meador doubled in a run and sophomore Landon Thomas also plated a run with a double. Ram junior CF Zach Jones chipped in with a pair of doubles. John A. Logan-bound LHP Weston Mason (4-0) fired a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

 

Southwestern

No. 11 O? Fallon (15-3; 6-1) defeated an outmanned East St. Louis squad, 25-0 in five innings. Panther senior Justin Wallace (1-0) fired a no-hitter, striking out nine Flyer hitters, in his first appearance on the mound for 2011. Cedar College-bound Sam Summerlin had three doubles and drove in six runs for the Panthers. Summerlin is now hitting .517 with two homers and 26 RBI for the season.

 

Nonconference

No. 12 Waterloo (15-1) warmed up for its big Mississippi Valley Conference showdown at Troy-Triad (13-1) today by outslugging city-rival Waterloo Gibault 13-11 on Tuesday. Bulldog senior C Lucas Wetzler hammered a grandslam and plated five ?Dog runs.
