Weighing in on the start to the high school season

With the high schools season now three weeks in, it is time for the weather to heat up, right? Well I hope so, and it looks like it is going to be the case for this weekend with temperatures reaching the 70s. Have been able to bear the elements and get out to a few games this season.

From what I?ve seen so far, Mundelein has really impressed me. Although they are a talented group of players, they may not have the raw abilities as some of the other teams have. However, what they are lacking in talent they make up for in the way they play the game. All the hitters take great approaches at the plate; they make the routine plays, and stay away from mistakes ? which is why the Mustangs are off to a somewhat surprising 10-0 start
""I do not foresee 15-20 pro scouts in attendance to watch Mundelein play, which I saw the other day with Joe Perricone at Hersey or Charlie Tilson at New Trier, but this team is going to be a tough group to take down. They have excellent starting pitching with RHP Ben Mahar (Valparaiso recruit), junior LHP Ryan Borucki (top-level prospect in the Class of 2012), and unsigned senior LHP Dante Martinez, who has carved up Harrisburg and Lake Zurich already this season
This team has some grit which you can?t turn on all of a sudden; it is something that you start and end the season with and it cannot be manufactured. The kind of thing they have going for them started in practice early on and was led by a few players or coaches who want to win.
I am not trying to say Mundelein is the favorite to win it all after only seeing a few games. I will say though that they will be able to compete with any team in the state.
