4/15/19

Fresno Easter Classic 4/15 - 4/16/2019 - Oregon State Commit. Strong muscled frame with sloped shoulders and length in lower half. Swing shows power to the middle of the field and patience at the plate not expanding the zone. Drove 2B deep over CF head cruising into 2B with ease. Showed athleticism beating out a single to SS (4.56 H-1st) that translates to agility at 3B. Arm showed very well having strong throws across the diamond from the line with carry. Frame to stick at 3B and hit in middle of lineup. / 2nd viewing; Big bodied, country strong looking third baseman with present power in the bat. From an upright, hands close stance, he whips the barrel in the zone on plane. Smoked a home run to left-center field that cleared the 15 foot wall by plenty. Shows fair footwork at third base where his arm strength is plentiful and accurate presently. Profiles well at third base moving forward.

2/18/19

Preseason Scrimmages (2) - Oregon State commit. Strong compact body type looks built for the corner at 5-foot-11, 185-pounds-ish. Showed that he's one of the high school position players who will factor into the 2020 draft. Strong bodied with good athleticism and tools for 3rd base, including an above average arm that has a chance to be a future plus arm, it's the bat and power potential that are the main tools for him. He starts with a low hand slot before moving up to his launch position, which can be a little complicated in getting to higher velocity. The most impressive things he showed were his power and approach. The power showed up when he homered on a change-up that he caught out front a bit and didn't even get all of. The approach showed up in a two-strike count vs a good right-hander, as he took away the breaking ball and trusted his hand speed enough to get to a fastball on the outer third, flipping it into right field. There were some swings and misses and he got a bit pull conscious too often while hunting his spots, but all the tools are there. The video of the homer and the two-strike AB are included.
