At 6-foot-4, 170 pounds, Gowdy is projectable with an easy delivery. His Area Code outing was brief—just two innings—but he showed why he’s one of the top righties in the country. He sits 88-90 with more in the tank as he is young in the face with room to add strength to his frame. His slider is a sharp, swing-and-miss pitch that disappeared at the plate. It sat 80-82. In his two-innings stint, Gowdy struck out four and allowed just one hit. As a high-level prospect from Southern California, it’s no surprise he’s committed to UCLA.
