A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
6-foot-2, 185-pound, larger, strong athletic frame, already filling out. A switch hitter, from the left, wider, even feet, hands are loose and relaxed, flat setup. For timing uses a smooth higher kick, gets the weight loaded on the backside. The swing is level to up, creating lift, with backspin to the baseball. The approach is more gap to gap, showing enough juice to beat the outfielders. The exit velocity was clocked in the high 80's. From the right side, similar setup and kick. The swing is a tick longer, with more of a pull approach. Defensively, shows a plus arm form outfield, clocked at 81 mph, downhill flight all throws are on target. The approach is under control, clean shuffles, gaining ground. Worked off the mound as well, working from set position, higher hand set, more of a quick slide stepper. The arm action is longer and clean on the backside, working from a high 3/4 slot. The fastball touched 78 mph with some arm side run to it. The breaking ball needs to add additional hand speed, clocked at 60-62 mph, worked an impressive inning. Projects for me as a position player, chance to bang it from the left side.
