6/20/17

6-foot, 195-pound, strong, physical, wide, durable pitchers frame. One of the better arms at this event.  The delivery has tempo and timing to it. The hands start low, work up with his quick controlled leg raise, hands come set slightly below the chest. The separation is on time, arm action is slightly longer on the backside. The stride is direct, frontside is strong, with minimal pull with glove, gets squared up to the plate on release. The arm works out of a higher slot, pitches downhill, works to both sides of the plate. The fastball shows good sink to arm side, looks to throw the two seamer to the glove side, trying to get it to run back over, good looking pitch. The fastball was clocked at 80 -84 mph, has life and it’s heavy. The breaking ball is thrown slower at 61-64 mph, has a bigger break and break is more vertical top to bottom. The changeup is an above average pitch at this point, clocked at 72 mph, has fade and the proper shape to it. The entire delivery is used when throwing this pitch, sells it well. Pitched well in game, pounded the zone, and made quick work of the hitters, times to the plate could be better, sits around 1.5. Also have seen a slide out of him at earlier times, which is an effective pitch. Offensively, hits from the right side, feet are wider than shoulder width, with the front foot slightly open. The hands are held slightly back and away from the body, the bat starts in more of a vertical position. The swing is level to up with a one handed finish. Showed to have power to the gaps, the approach was more to middle to pull side. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 91 mph and ran a 4.47, runs ok. Defensively, showed good feet and easy actions at first base, gets off the bag well, feet move well and work together with hands. The hands look to be soft, picked baseballs, arm was clocked at 76 mph across the diamond. Projects for me off the mound, someone is going to get a good one.

Home - First: 4.47

Exit Velocity: 91 mph

Arm Velocity: 76 mph

3/8/17
6-foot, 187-pound, strong, thick, wide, durable pitchers frame. The shoulders are squared off, back is wide is physically developed. A right-handed pitcher, delivery has a fast tempo, more of a drop and drive approach with the lower half. The hands start high, work down with rocker step, and move back up quickly with leg raise, gets to a good gather, everything is compact. The frontside gets inline, glove is strong and has good direction to the plate. The arm action has some length at the bottom of the path, fastball was clocked at 81-83 mph, has heavy action and sink, pitches extremely well to the arm side, 4 seamer located well down and away. Throws two different breaking balls, slider at 73-76 mph, has more feel and confident with it. The curve ball was clocked at 65-68 has 12/6 break to it. The changeup is sold well, same slot and same arm speed, clocked at 72-75 mph. Times to the plate are quick at 1.31-1.38, is aggressive and gets after it. Projects for me as a legit pen guy, pounds the zone, good slider, look for velocity to jump, solid follow.
